Listen to your Dad girls. I have been married 40 years. We raised 4 sons. He always worked. He always hustled. Time were not easy and we struggled financially but he always worked. I was able to stay home so our children could have a mother available all the time and take care of the household. Once they were all older and in school I was able to start working. Hard time happen, the important thing is (when Dad says you need a man to be a man) is that he still takes care of the family.

I wanted to to stay home with my kids when they were little and my husband had a window washing business amd supported me and kids. After my kids were in school, my husband encouraged me to go to college. My husband is 10 years older than me and after he retired I was working full time supporting him. He did housework and cooked for me. He does all the yard work. So we took turns supported each other. We have been married 43 years happily.

A word abhorrent to the archetype. There are seasons for everything. I love that the girls feel comfortable to ask you such questions in a public arena and not to be scared. Good job at unconditional love Dad!

100% on Michael’s take on men being men!👍🏼 My Sicilian dad, a man’s man and while I was a career girl who did it on my own with never ending emotional support from my dad I knew he would always be my safety net. Ladies you are incredibly fortunate to have this wonderful man as your dad.

“If you had to support the guy, what do you need him for?” This is right. You can’t gravitate towards a man that is incapable of being a provider. A woman cannot respect lack of competence, skills, and capabilities. Resentment will almost always develop. Not saying you can’t have a rough patch. But you have to be able to “handle business.”
