I live in an Asian country, and to me that's quite normal. My friend got a 96% on a test and still got beat with a belt. Lots of kids get that in Asia, so to be honest it's not that crazy nowadays. Edit: ofc if I ever had a kid I would never do such a thing to them, but I'm not saying it's uncommon for kids to be whipped.
