The Road Warrior is not only a movie, is an experience beyond imagination. Miller created a world where a mythological past cross with a sadistic comic style future. Powerful dreamy atmosphere, strong action, frenzy pacing, outstanding music of Brian May, great performances and the most epic intro of all time. I discovered the trilogy with 15 years old and the 2nd is the movie I have watched more times in my life.

Miller opened a new standard in the action and sci-fi genre and talking pig movies and dancing penguin movies although the last two faded like my memory.

I agree with Siskel and Ebert. The stunt work and special effects also music score are sensational. The 2nd best chase sequence of 80s. That ending chase takes your breath away. One of the few sequel's better then the original. And the first mad max movie is still great. But the sequel WOW. What a fantastic movie.

@@JasonBagherian I think To Live and Die in L.A. is the best car chase of 80s. I mean car chase not truck chase. William friedkin took 3 weeks to film it. And film the car chase the last 3 weeks of the end of production before filming wrap up in case the two leading cast members die in the chase. So he would have a completed movie. Talk about guts!

If you watch closely, you can see that a lot of the final chase sequence was actually done at very slow vehicle speeds. The way they manage to distract you from how slow many of the vehicles are moving is quite masterful.

@@JasonBagherian The Blues Brothers is the number one chase scene of the 80s.

Fantastic job on the editing to see the clips in modern widescreen and mate them with the commentary. I haven't seen anyone do this yet with Siskel and Ebert reviews.

I loved this movie. It seemed like a realistic outcome of ww3. I didnt enjoy Fury Road because it seemed more like fantasy than sci-fi

Tom hard was miscast tho,. Mel Gibson will always be max. Nobody else

Probably the only time, since it was an Australian film, where the audience saw the sequel first and it was better than the 1st film. I didn't know about the first movie until it came to cable.

Love this film, absolutely and unequivocably!

The number one greatest movie ever made

I enjoy the MAD MAX TRILOGY, watching them all from beginning to the end & second was more exciting & entertaining, great stunts. Almost better than the first. 👌✌👍

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior is my number one favourite film of all time

4:23...Very telling about Siskel's later reviews about stylized violence and gore that would come later in the 80's. He did mind violence that was cartoonish, but with the realistic effects that came in the 80's...S&E just HATED big time

What a great review of a bizarre movie. I always thought some guy at Paramount executive seen this flick. And then stole the idea the hockey Mask for Friday the 13th part 3. Which came out on August 13, 1982. Which was a Friday anyways, I loved the Dog 🐕 In the Road Warrior. And the Grand finale at the end, the big buildup with the tanker and the chase.

The hockey mask in Friday the 13th, Part 3 came about when they were doing lighting tests for the 3D effects. The propmaster pulled out a hockey mask, and the rest is history.

Best movie ever made too of all time

I rewatched this recently and again I’m just in awe of the stunt work and specifically the stunt driving and camera work. But another small aspect of the craft that deserves a callout - especially in comparison to hundreds of other action movies that do a bad job, this movie makes incredible and convincing use of dummies. Perhaps the speed of the editing helps this too. In the final chase there are so many people crushed and run over and it looks totally credible. Idk if I’d say it looks “realistic” but it’s probably for the best that the violence in this movie is not “realistic” in every sense.

You could apply this review to Fury Road too. They're spot on.

I saw this Siskel and Ebert review when it first aired. How and why they did another review of the same movie with different opinions is beyond me.

Didn't see the male female (romance) sex scene under the tent that got removed..lol?

To me after watching mad max 2 i feel the film is the original fury road only with the villain being wasted potential and some of the heroes and villains being prototypes to the fury road cast but only with badly wasted potential

One of the best. When Mel was not full of himself😁

I haven't seen this movie. I have seen Mad Max Beyond Thunderstone, though. It's a good movie.

This is the best of the three films with Mel Gibson. The original is also very good too. Beyond Thunderdome plays well today, even though I was disappointed when I first saw it.

Anyone know if they also reviewed the original few years earlier? :)

They have written reviews on their respective newspapers.

The scenes they showed were way too deep into the movie, including the climatic chase and even the very close of the movie. Ridiculous spoilers. They should have just shown scenes from the beginning that set up the plot. A lot of interesting stuff happens that doesn't give anything away.

The clips s&e show are not chosen by them, they are provided by the distributor for the sake of promoting the movie in the media. I agree that they kind of spoiled some of the best moments but that wasn’t s&e making a bad choice.

Some of the stunts were real and weren't supposed to happen
