David Bornman from Vancouver, Canada is a fantastic contributor to the Siren 17 owners’ community. The previous owner of his Siren took the boat through a complete overhaul and fancy upgrades such as a taller rig and a bowsprit to enter the Race to Alaska. Unfortunately, “Team Chum” experienced a couple knock downs halfway through the event and was forced to abandon. David eventually purchased this souped-up Siren and generously shared tricks and tips of all modifications made to his boat. Most impressive are the numerous exploratory trips he took in the beautiful waters of the Pacific Northwest demonstrating the coastal cruising abilities of his 17-foot craft. David also like to share his passion for sailing and has taken dozens of novices for short rides on his Siren.

Thank you brother for the overview n using your little sailor for God n ministry as well as unique family fun. I live down near Seattle so very familiar with your destinations n sailing area. I use to use a Neptune 16’ swing keel back in the 1970’s n 80’s. Now 77 heading for 80 God permit .. love 💕 to get a small sailboat ⛵️ under my buns again. I'm curious what kind of handicap rating this has with all of the modifications. The taller rig and a-kites make this look like a lot of fun.
I just picked up a siren and it has a built in head. Did many of the sirens come with these? And any advice in rigging the sails and all sheets from a-z?

Im interested in how he made the diy siren table let me know mines missing its one and i want to make one any help would be appreciated
with Ronstan S60 furler, are you able to reef foresail partially? My concern is, it doesn't have a drum, not sure if just one wrap of the line would hold, lets say, 3m2 of jib in 20kn wind. I was thinking it only designed to be used for gennaker which is either out or furled completely. Thanks!

Although I was able to take a partial reef by cleating the furling line, a continuous line furler is not designed to do that. In any case, the head stay tend to be so slack on a Siren, i never found partially furling the jib to be useful at all.
Where are you buying the new sails ,as I’m still using the originals ,on Lake Nipissing!
