Utes are a way of life for some people in Australia, I'm genuinely impressed they knew what the word 'bogan' meant... and from the low brow to the high brow... Real tennis is surprisingly popular in Melbourne, there are courts in the inner city and nearby towns, it's fascinating to watch players hitting the ball onto a veranda sort of thingy and their opponents sprinting to the place where they think it will bounce onto the court. Far more interesting to watch than lawn tennis.

Ironically, Ford is a Ute manufacturer who hasn’t given a Ute a stupid jingoistic pastoral name. Subaru Brumby Proton Jumbuck Holden Rodeo (not a true Ute, but still a stupid pastoral name) Coupe Utility Utes have fallen out of popularity in Australia in favour of a more global Pickup Truck style. They are still called Utes colloquially, even though they have a detached cab. The last true Coupe Utility was the Holden VF Commodore. The last true Coupe Utility made by Ford was the EL Falcon. The US named their Coupe Utilitys along Latin (the region/culture) themes. Ranchero, El Camino, Durango, Caballero. Current Coupe Utility’s are the Dacia Duster Pick-up, Fiat Strada, Volkswagen Saveiro, IKCO Arisun. They are still popular in countries with a strong pastoral farming culture.
