Because I typed that, and because Google is watching, I am now being served ads about Dolph Lundgren's new movie. Let's take advantage of stars' greater willingness to do interviews when they have a new project to promote to get him on Mark's show.

When I was 16 I had the pleasure of racing against Sir Steve at Kingston head of river. Already a legend, he was in the Leander 8 and as they cruised past us on the way to their starting place, you just heard their cox ask "Is that ok Steve?" to which he replied "No, take it up!" He was an absolute animal and a great champion.

I was fortunate when I was at school to have had a trip organised by our school priest to Henley regatta and the small group that went had the privilege of meeting Sir Steve Redgrave and Sir Matthew Pinsent 1 year out from the Atlanta games. They were man mountains but so extremely genuine in how they spoke to us. Absolute confidence yet humility and kindness. He has always been a hero and an inspiration and I'm so lucky to have grown up at a time when he was at the peak of his powers. As a swimmer, Aleksandar Popov, Ian Thorpe and Michael Phelps have been my idols. However Sir Steve, Sir Matthew, Sir Chris Hoy and more recently Usain Bolt have certainly summed up what it is to be an Olympian. Legend and always will be.

Thanks so so much for this interview, Steve and Mark! Mark, your questions and comments had me chuckling throughout. Asking Steve some of the schoolboy questions we've all wanted to know, as well as that great age question that I'm so interested in, now being 51! But the TRT thing was the most interesting. Thank you so much for letting Steve talk at length about it. I was hanging on his every word. As a former rower who is always so proud of Steve's unprecedented achievements at five consecutive Olympics, a fair few people have tried to shoot me down with the Hungarian fencer, Aladár Gerevich. But even if Gerevich did win at six Games (which is a fantastic achievement), there's no comparison to winning in a power-endurance sport such as rowing. I accept I might be biased, but Steve truly deserves the top spot and wow-factor, IMHO. And he's still got the rowers muscle definition in those shoulders!

Thank you for this. I'm relatively new to your channel. This was a really important interview. I'm 60. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life but the one thing I got right was to exercise consistently throughout my life (and I mean daily) and generally keep a good whole foods diet (with occasional lapses! and stay off the piss as much as possible...). It really pays dividends now. I remain very active physically and mentally, have a good diet, sleep reasonably well but it's still really tough dealing with an ageing body and staring down the barrel at your imminent mortality. It can become a heavy mental game. It was great to hear a sensible conversation about TRT and its benefits to those who need it, (I don't use it but I'm considering it). Sir Steve was so humble and honest. He's absolutely right. It's ok to let go of your past identity. Move on and adapt. Jocko calls it 'accepting reality'. Get momentum, keep momentum but get professional help if you need it. You younger blokes need to pay attention to Sir Steve's words! Thanks again Mark and Sir Steve.

Thank you for this Mark sir! I've watched it several times! Such a fantastic interview. And what great teamwork you both had to ensure sir steve won all those medals! Some would argue your "not running over steve" role may have been tougher and more key to all those victories than the "bit of a row" role he took on, but that's what teamwork is!!!

The bit about doing a marathon on the erg struck a nerve. In 2014 I did my one and only rowing marathon in aid of Autism West Midlands. I'd done the million metre challenge the year before but that marathon was filthy. I managed 2 hrs 54. Which, as a 47 year old I was really pleased with. Now, at 57, ive tried the concept 2 several times, but my back just screams at me. I have been doing a stint on the ski erg for a few months now, theres never a queue to get on that!!. Well done Mark, i love your vids anyway but this was a bit special with the big man👍
