Repertoireklassiker in Top-Besetzung: Mit den letzten drei Sinfonien von Mozart kommen das Mahler Chamber Orchestra und der Sir Simon Rattle zurück in den Großen Saal. »Es ist erstaunlich, wenn man diese drei Stücke in die Klammer eines Abends stellt«, so Sir Simon Rattle, »da drängen sich extreme menschliche Emotionen auf engstem Raum. Diese Musik ist zutiefst emotional und leidenschaftlich und dunkel und gefährlich und fröhlich wie keine andere, die je geschrieben wurde.« Innerhalb nur eines Jahres komponiert, sind die drei Sinfonien ein unerschöpfliches musikalisches Mysterium. »Kein Auftrag, keine unmittelbare Absicht« habe Mozart zu ihrer Komposition veranlasst, sie seien vielmehr »ein Appell an die Ewigkeit«, so der erste Mozart-Biograf Alfred Einstein.
Häufig als eine Trias verstanden, sind die Sinfonien Nr. 39, 40 und 41 wahre Gipfelwerke der klassischen Sinfonik, in denen der Komponist noch einmal die ganze Bandbreite seiner künstlerischen Mittel zeigte: Von der heiteren Es-Dur-Sinfonie über die stürmisch drängende g-Moll-Sinfonie bis hin zum strahlenden C-Dur-Glanz der letzten Sinfonie, besser bekannt unter ihrem Beinamen »Jupiter«.
Mit Sir Simon Rattle steht in Hamburg damit einer der größten Klassik-Stars am Pult des spielfreudigen Mahler Chamber Orchestra. Bekannt für seine gleichermaßen konzentrierten wie leidenschaftlichen Interpretationen, sorgte der Brite auch mit seinen Mozart-Einspielungen international für Begeisterung.

wow! Wie gut ist das denn! So ein vitales Musizieren, wunderbare Kontraste, es sind Stimmführungen zu hören, die ich vorher - obwohl diese Sinfonien so zum Standardrepertoire gehören - noch nicht gehört habe. Wunderbar gemeißelte Hölzbläserpassagen, die oft nur als Begleitung fungieren, plötzlich ein thematisches Eigenleben gewinnen. Ungeheuer mutig auch in der stilistischen Vielseitigkeit, nichts für Puristen, aber wunderbar für Neugierige, wunderbare Konzertsituation. Das macht die ungeheure Genialität Mozart nochmal mehr deutlich. Rattle und dieses Orchester, eine Glückskonstellation! Beide Seiten ist das gegenseitige Verstehen und die Freude am Musizieren anzusehen! Chapeau!

久しぶりにモーツァルトの神髄というべき演奏を聴かせてもらえました。 特に41番の最後のフーガは「宇宙が見えた」そんな演奏だったのではないでしょうか。 これからも何度も聴き返したくなります。

Excelente versión. Bastante original, como los adornos de la madera y cornos en el Trío del Menuetto. Y bueno, aquel Re natura agudo del minuto 26:34

Beautiful hall with wonderful acoustics. On my first visit I was surprised by the applause between movements of the symphony. Even here in Prague it sometimes happens, that the audience applauds where it is not usual, but these are quite exceptional cases. When the situation repeated itself on my second visit, which took place less than a year later, I discovered by listening to perhaps hundreds of live recordings on YT, made in many concert halls in Germany, that applause between movements is not something, that is usual in Germany. Would anyone have an explanation as to why this particular thing happens in Hamburg?

The first movement of 39th Symphony is being played a little bit faster at the last moments. Undesirable
A lot of tempi change. I can't help thinking some Russian conductor trying to do that to mozart - comments would be negative. But here... the man can do whateven he wants :-). Cultural bias (not that I didn't enjoy the rendition).

Who should care about the nationality of the conductor?? That's quite a strange ultra-old-fashioned thinking. Additionally, where do you think that Rattle deviates from the score?
