Nvidia control panel > Manage 3d Settings > Global Settings > Power Management Mode > Prefer maximum performance Sips is on Optimal Power which is killing his OBS performance. Optimal Power prioritizes only the currently active window (ie the game) and throttles everything else (ie OBS). It's why he's having issues. This will fix his problems. Someone tell him.

according to Nvidia, that's not how it works. They say max performance makes the GPU run at full throttle all the time if a 3D application is running, while optimal runs it just fast enough to pull everything that's using it. Not saying you're wrong, only that what you wrote is contradictory to the documentation. Also worth noting that application throttling is the job of the windows task scheduler, not the graphics driver, and the driver generally doesn't know what is the active program as it will attempt to draw everything that's thrown at it. Also if you throttle OBS you'll get frame drops and worse stuttering. There is however a known issue with OBS and Unity engine games because they both use the same resources for rendering. The reason Sips has more frequent problems with stuttering in the last few years is because he largely only plays unoptimized junk that runs on Unity.

@@thesteelrodent1796 I'll be honest, I was only guessing as to the reason why that setting is affecting things. But I do know that OBS 100% does not play well with Optimal Power, no matter what game I'm playing. I also can only guess at why that setting was changed in the first place - I would never have intentionally set it away from max performance, so it must have been an errant windows update or some other app or driver installation doing things it's not supposed to. (for the record, I didn't update my GPU drivers prior to when the setting was changed, so it wasn't that - I may have updated chipset drivers, I suppose that could have been it, but just a shot in the dark.) All I know is I was having the exact same issues Sips is having with the "encoding overloaded" messages when previously the same games were playing fine. Honestly it was a lucky catch even finding out that was the issue, as I would have never thought to check it... Why would I when I "know" it's already set correctly? I just happened to see it when I was frantically trying solutions. As soon as I saw the wrong setting I thought "wait a minute..." and turned it back, and then all was well without doing anything else. I can't 100% say this will fix all of Sips' technical issues, but I saw the same symptoms, saw his setting was Optimal Power, and just knew that had to be a big part of the issue. As it is I finally remembered I actually have a disused twitter account last night and sent him a message about it. He did reply to it, so hopefully he'll try the setting and it'll fix things up for him.

the obs browser page is most likely your overlay for camera. obs is known to use a lot gfx processing. it may help to right click your preview in obs and put it in performance mode while streaming

do a DDU to uninstall all display drivers and reinstall the newest up to date driver .. some times installing drivers dont delete older files and it causes problems

If you open the side door, though, the chickens _immediately_ leave. It's not just a chance they'll escape, they see that the door is open and instantly head out.
