Absolutely at the pinnacle of her career with this performance - the strength, power and confidence she emulated was amazing. A truly unique voice from that era. ⚡👍🏻⚡

Florence from The Machine sounds like her. Neither seem to be able to do much with their voice, though. Florence seems like a less talented/capable Annie Lennox. Bands like this were from the post MTV era, and more about the look than the music. I had one of the Banshee albums, and it was OK. I preferred Lena Lovich back in the day, but some of her songs pandered to the LCD for commercial purposes. Hate to be so critical. A friend of mine was a Banshee fan, and he's an awesome guy. I played guitar and sang in several rock bands then, so I have high standards of singers. Annie Lennox was probably the best of the genre.

@@GCKelloch I think you have your timeline a little mixed up. Siouxsie started in 1976, a full 6 YEARS before MTV was created. Hardly "post MTV". But since you were a singer and in bands and had ONE banshees album, I concede you have the definitive knowledge to judge an artist who has been performing continuously for 46 years. Thank you for setting me straight.

The great thing about Siouxsie is that the only singers that sound like her are trying hard to sound like her. She is just so unique in her sound, as were the Banshees. No wonder she is referenced as a major influence on so many female vocalists over the last 40 years, many of them the biggest acts of those same 40 years.

We will never see another Banshees, there is no longer the creativity to do so. Modern music is bland, corporate, unoriginal, dull, & drab, with nothing to say or offer, in the words of the genius that was Mark E Smith describing U2, "music for bricklayers and plumbers " That also sums up most Modern music aswell. I was privileged to see the Banshees on the JuJu tour way back when. It was amazing, she is the best female vocalist of any generation hands down.

Thebest female vocalist ever is a stretch ,Diana Ross, Emmylou Harris,Linda Ronstadt,Karen Carpenter ,Tina Turner,Aretha Franklin,Dione Warwick, Janis Joplin,Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks,Debbie Harry ,Kate Bush,Whitney Houston,Amy Winehouse, Madonna etc etc The list goes on and on,there are several that can lay claim to the title and it's often Aretha Franklin,Linda Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter that come top of the list. To say she is easily the best vocalist ever is just nonsense, your personal favourite maybe but there is no way that she can EASILY be the best as there is nothing easy about it,it's a very tough hard fight at the top with quite a few contenders for the title.

@@davidmellish3295 to compare any of them to Siouxsie & the legacy she has left, surpasses any of those vanilla singers you mentioned. They are all good singers, but she brought so much more to modern music. Every one of them you named are so bland & dull.

You are totally wrong in your criticism of "modern music". You just need to dig further. Good places to start; BBC 6 Music. Especially Marc Reilly's Show, Also, Soundcloud_---countless musicians creating music on their own.
