Love this song! Based on Christine Sizemore (along with the song 'christine'). The film 'the three faces of eve' was released in 1957..about her struggling with her multiple personalities..eve white, eve black and jane. One of the many reasons i love this band, along with the cure..there's always an intriguing element about the songs!

loved the 1981 live from Koln with guitarist John Mc Geoch,The best guitarist they have had.(Siouxsie Quotes) John McGeoch was my favourite guitarist of all time. He was into sound in an almost abstract way. I loved the fact that I could say, "I want this to sound like a horse falling off a cliff", and he would know exactly what I meant. He was easily, without a shadow of a doubt, the most creative guitarist the Banshees ever had."[8]

The first concert I went to was Siouxsie at the Chelmsford Odeon. It was either 1978 or 79. Spizzenergi and the Cure were supporting!

I absolutely love the SCARY SCRRREEEEAAAAAAAAAMM in this song... Still gets me all these years later... My band used to play this in the 80's and it drove the guy who ran the rehearsal studio MAD... He said we were the LOUDEST band he had ever heard!! 👍👍😂🤣

This is a legendary and anthological performance in every respect, truly 'larger than life' stuff. To begin with, the sound is both huge and crystal clear, bursting into the speakers with impressive clarity and impact, especially for Siouxsie's vocals and Severin's bass. And with this particular version, the band accomplishes something that in my view that is simply astonishing: to convert what was just a poor footnote (an obscure b-side of a single) into the true quintessence of a genre. For what would be gothic rock in my understanding? Essentially a kind of reassessment of punk as a sonic representation of the expressionist schattenspiel / artaudian Théâtre de la Cruauté .

Kaleidoscope was transitional because they didn't have a fixed guitarist. Clearly McGeoch did much in that album but wasn't an official member of the band until later (also Steve Jones featured on a track of that album, and some tracks are electronic). The original recording of this song suffered of this (or lack of studio time), because it's a demo with added overdubs.

just because I'm mentaly stable and no junky, doesn't mean this doesn't get to me... If you're able to open yourself and allow yourself to feel, this song makes it feel like my heart gets squashed and ripped out... you make it sound like mental disease is something to be proud of, or something that gives you status or something...

This song has to do with the woman Christine, from the song Christine. Besides being the bannana split lady, the turtule and the purple lady, she was also eve white and eve black, just some of the 22 'faces'.

Here is a thought: What is this song about? Besides your basic, staple answer of, "Someone in a mental asylum." Maybe it is actually Sioux's desire to be off-of the stage and inside the crowd; though because of record company contracts, she is 'eternally' gigging and touring, stuck up there.
