Siouxsie and the Banshees - Cascade (guitar cover)
Музыка
UPDATE: TAB AVAILABLE: www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/s...
Ok, here's my take to Cascade.
Based around the live version that can be found on youtube... because the album version has so many different layered guitar (particulary on the last bit). Also I'm not sure about the chords on this last bit, and I missed the last one but got to bored to record it all again. But you'll get the idea.
Oh, and by the way, the guitar during the verse is played more constantly... not with all these pauses I did, they're more like accents/no-accents... I just realized that after I had recorded.
I was thinking if maybe his song has an alternate tuning because the open chord before the chorus isn't comfortable to play at all!

the chorus part is hypnotizing... wow!!!!
Thank for watching. The songs are great! My guitar is a SG 3000... I never played another one (1000 or 2000 or whatever), this one here is the only one I could find back when I found out it was the one McGeoch used.

John McGeoch was and still is my guitar hero, nobody to touch him in my opinion, thankyou so much for doing him more than proud 👏🥲 utterly brilliant my friend ❤️👍
It`s always a delight watching (and hearing) you play.
When I hear Cascade & these guitar sounds, I get goosebumps, I think there is some kind of strange, sombre slant to the world that surrounds me
Dude, your channel is by far my favorite channel on youtube!!!
Yes, I used it as a reference too :) Plus it's probably one of the best sounding live recordings with McGeoch...
@mtsn It's the MXR 117 Flanger placed on the stand. Robert Smith inherited McGeoch's equipment, but refused to use his guitar, based on aesthetics. It's placed there because on some moments John would hit a chord and turn the knobs on the flanger while the chord was still ringing. I have a scanned interview with McGeoch in which he talks about his equipment (Armoury Show era), I'll send you the link...
Thanks for bringing me back here to have a replay. Awesome. I needed this. ;-)))))))
Ogni volta che ti ascolto mi fai venire la pelle di oca. Sei un grande.

@otimeia Thanks for watching! The SG is a very nice piece of wood. Don't know about the new ones though, but they're spposed to be of the same quality, only with different pickups.

Yeah..! It was my first ever Siouxsie & B experience. I picked the cassette from a rent-library, just because I thought the sleeve was amazing (I was then a Nina Hagen fan). Cascade was THE overture.. wow...these guitar & bass sounds, with thatsort of wind sound one can hear at the very beginning of the intro...
A great master of your instrument and the tune a great choice I enjoyed it wondrously. Thanks for posting so this gem could be shared with me today when I really need a lot of Music. Peace and Keep playing for a hurting world to heal and clear out the war-games that are holding us hostage. Peace and love is the game now. Lets change the world one person we meet at a time. This music is doing so much for our hearts are opening up and feeling once again. Thanks from my heart for this Gem.

@Guedzilla I remember one interview from when he was with PIL, he had a lot of effects then, kind of 2 or 3 compressors or something. I think Robert Smith during his Banshees days used an Electric Mistress flanger (and maybe a Memory Man for delays), not sure. I always think that the stuff on a stand in Nocturne besides Robert is one of these pedals, placed there for convenience as some settings change a lot. But a Boss BF-2 will do the job just fine...
@pauldavtzn Thanks! I think I was running through an You Dirty Rat distortion, into a Boss CE2 chorus clone. And delay on the last verse, a DD3. Haven't got a flanger. Yet. =)
wonderful
Sou seu fã!!!!!
I really enjoy your SATB covers . You`re a great player and the Yamaha SG 1000 is a sexy guitar!! :)

@InfiniteMisery003 You're welcome:)
@TalkToTheBody Just that? I think he had more stuff with the Banshees... I have an interview with him but it's from the time he was already with The Armoury Show... where he lists his equipment, 2 drives, compressor, eq, 2 chorus, 2 flangers, harmonizers... I'd love to have a MXR flanger like he did, but they are pretty expensive here in Brazil... It's on my "someone-bring-me-one-from-the-US" list tho =)
loving that cure t-shirt
un gran saludo desde Ecuador excelente cover también toco música de siouxsie y the cure soy muy fans de los dos grupos son los mejores del mundo

I like it :)
By ear and by videos to be sure :)
i would tune the g up to an a makes it much easier to play. not sure if mcgeoch ever used that tuning but i know a few who do :)
excellent! you have a great attitude and are humble and talented. do you have any classical or jazz training?
@Guedzilla
9 жыл бұрын
Thanks again :) I have no classical or jazz training... I learned the basics from my father, a bit from friends, then had some years of lessons with a private teacher... well, there was a tiny bit of classical there maybe, but I wouldn't consider it "classical training". Lately I've been wanting to learn some jazz on my own.. but I'm finding it quite difficult.
Yay =)
