Sioux, Cheyenne & Arapahoe Warriors vs. US Army Soldiers : The Wagon Box Fight
On a hot August day on the remote plains of Wyoming, a group of US Army soldiers and civilian laborers are caught off-guard by a contingent of Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapahoe warriors under the leadership of the legendary Red Cloud.
Surrounded, cut-off from reinforcements, and massively outnumbered, the Americans do however have the advantage of a defensible position, and their repeating Springfield Model 1866 rifles.
What follows is one of the most brutal battles in the history of the old west, replete with cold-blooded killing as well as acts of tremendous courage and charity on both sides.
For all those who survived that horrible day, their lives would be forever changed. Don't miss this legendary story of one of the most important battles to take place in the history of the Old West, only here on History At The OK Corral: Home Of History's Greatest Shootouts & Showdowns!

You do some of the best old west content on YT. Thank you for keeping it real and gritty and not trying to sugar coat it or bring modern social nonsense into it.

@JaMeshuggah what are you talking about? All of this information comes from modern academia. Primary sources, contemporary research. Get away from fox news and stop living in a fantasy world. The biggest attempt at biased curriculums is texas trying to omit slavery from textbook. No ones koombayaing indian history in 2024.
I live in riverton wyoming. It is on the reservation with Arapaho tribe. They are very proud people also still bitter.
Great video. It’s hard to find good videos on the old west on KZread that don’t just focus on specific topics. Thank you
I love listening to the narration of these history pieces. It’s done beautifully.
You did a fantastic job today, I was right there during the battle. My heart broke when the tall man was killed. He was a warrior. Thank you 💛 Sir for another day and another story!!
Man I’ve watched several hours a day after finding this channel. I need more videos in running low. Thanks
"By the grace of God and Lieutenant General Sherman" God I love that line.
brilliant content… told in a style reminiscent of louis lamour.
Great stories mate, thank you for sharing.
Have read where 'seasoned Indian figters', when in situations like, that the first thing was to shoot the horses, at a good distance, making the riders fight on foot.

@@Concerned-Nihilist would imagine ever since horses were introduced in warfare that 'de-horsing' was the order of the day, reading stuff on the Texas Rangers brought that to mind.
You do good work. Thanks from across the pond.
Good stuff as always 👍
I appreciate the way you set the conversation. New fan.❤
Love your work.
There needs to be a collectively name for the Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapaho other than Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapaho so that we don't have to say Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapaho every single time 😂 Great work, I love these episodes that tell a continuous story from one episode to the next.

The repetition of Sioux, Cheyenne and Arapaho every time gives a more dramatic effect. As well I think today's descendants of these tribes would want their tribal ancestors to be recognised rather than be all lumped into one non descript group. I think it's more respectful and accurate to refer to each tribe. Just saying.
Awesome video... You guys kill it everytime
Thanks!
Another great story! Keep them coming, always look forward to opening up your channel to see what the next new video will be.
living in colorado i love knowing and seeing these areas in these videos

I have to wonder about tying the string to the big toe. Looping the string around the foot with the boot still on would allow a person to pull the trigger.

Springfield rifles are not repeating rifles they are single shot breechloaders, Henrys and Spencers however are repeaters.

Is it me, or does the narrator constantly repeat "the Sioux, the Cheyenne and the Arapaho" like he was saying "The Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost"?

See if you can come up with General Crook getting turned back in route to the Little Bighorn please.
The soldiers did not have repeating rifles. The trap-door Springfield rifle issued to the soldiers was a breech loading single shot rifle. Not a repeater.

There were a few civilians at the fight that did have repeaters, but you are correct that the soldiers did not have them at this engagement.
Very similar to the Zulu and the Battle of Rorke's Drift.
How about covering the cutthroat massacre of 1833. Also, more on intertribal warfare and the battles between the plains Indians the immigrant Indians.

lol wikipedia has lost its mind. according to the article there ~6 Indian warriors were killed during this event. I know they think they are doing honor to the Natives by reducing the # of casualties thus implying they were not as out matched. In fact, they are being absurdly disrespectful to all of the natives who fell during this encounter.
@marklewandowski8474

The wikipedia article clearly states the 6 killed is an estimate with a range of 2-60. So wikipedia didnt lose its mind. It stated an estimate and realistic range based on all available evidence.

We don't hear the British bitching about losing the whole East to the continental army. But, win a war in the West, and the Indians are the rightful owners of the land and victims.

AMEN!!!! I AGREE WITH YOU!!!!!!!!
It seems that the Indian's torture of prisoners ended up working against them, because it made the soldiers and civilians fight harder. I know that if it was me, it wouldn't be a question, I would leave everything out on the battlefield expecting that I would die. You can't fight any harder when there's no option of surrender.
I was hoping to hear how many casualties the Indians suffered

Springfield repeaters? Huh? Winchester lever action rifles were repeaters.. Springfields were single shot rifles.. There is a difference. You should know it and personally review your content before you record it. best Bruce Peek
