Sintra and the Mysterious Knights Templar

The Portuguese town of Sintra is home to an estate (Quinta de Regaleira) that has ties to a secret society once known as the Knights Templar. Founded in the 12th century, this religious order was said to be guardians of holy relics. It was on Friday the 13th of 1307 that King Philip IV of France ordered their arrest and execution. While exploring these grounds you will walk the path of those once seeking to gain this esoteric knowledge by proceeding into the depths of the initiation well and through the tunnels that ultimately lead to a spiritual rebirth. Be sure to add this interesting place to your itinerary when traveling in Portugal.

Portugal refused to destroy the order 1307 under pressure of Phillipe the Fair the French King who burned the Templar Grand Master Jacques de Molay. In Portugal the order changed name and lived - to today.
