We've talked about it before, hoping me, him and Templin can get a game going sometimes.

Imo the novalith should have unlimited range greater range BUT it should have limited field of fire so it could be used sparingly. That might work really well when combined with planet movement

The range reduction for the Novalith as a building seems to make it more of a defensive tool for Sins 2. The enemy isn't going to be able to effectively claim adjacent planets near you, when you can just easily remove them, they are going to have to pry you out of adjacent territory first. If starbases for TEC loyalists work in Sins 2 like they did in Rebellion, it would play really well with the defensive role of the faction. Giving the Ragnarov titan a Novialith as well means that the TEC rebels can just essentially harass planets at will. I'm very curious what it means for the development and playstyle of the other factions in order to balance this.

Is this really just going to be an updated version of the first game? I mean I'd still buy it purely for the mod support.

It's an entirely different engine, with different content and mechanics. The 3 factions are the same and many of the ships are successors to the ones in the first game, but they're entirely different models. and such so I don't really get the idea that it's "just an updated version."

@@CoreyLoses well just visually it looks very similar and the gameplay so far "looks" identical. the code and engine may be completely different but to the average player, so far at least, this looks like basically the exact same game but with updated graphics. so just by appearances it looks more like a remaster than an actual sequel.

​​​@@e.corellius4495 I have had Sins 2 for a few months now. Although the game has great aspirations it is still not a full release. Many units and buildings are placeholders from the previous game which means the final product will be different. The first day I played Sins 2 I was disappointed because I went from a fully developed Sins with DLC fleshed out to an alpha release full of placeholders from the previous game. Stardock waited a very very long time to do this and must rely on selling the game before it is released to have any chance of reaching the vision they originally had for this game. Edit: I said Stardock waited a long time. They are the publisher. But Ironclad Games is the developer. I do not know who actually decided to start Sins 2.

@@e.corellius4495 Yeah, it's because people on the steam forum, wanted a newer version of the game. It's risky to tamper with a classic, so they (devs) promised, more or less to stick to the original recipe.

I really only ever played Advent, was a fanatic, so, there not much for me to try without their faction. But I cant wait, moment they get added I ll try it even on Epic since I doubt they coming to steam anytime soon...

There is currently no estimated date for Revan's Revenge. But rest assured that it will release as soon as it's in an acceptably playable/stable/enjoyable state.

There are plenty of new mechanics and changes that I've covered in prior videos. This is about the latest specific patch's changes.

I have to disagree with the nerf on the super weapons. At such close range the Novalith is pointless, whereas the other two are not due to how they work. One creates a culture win for the system and the other emps everything in orbit, whereas the destruction of a planet doest really do much against the already built weapon platforms.

I’m in the same boat, though I get why they made the nerf since two shoting your enemies capital as TEC, or warping your whole fleet their as Vasari is kinda bullshit. Personally, I’m in favor of taking inspiration from Endless Space 2 and creating some form of universal counter. Maybe something along the lines of a planetary shield that renders the planet immune to these weapons, but make it both expensive so that you can’t protect every planet and make it orbitally mounted so that it can get sniped by a fleet if you don’t properly protect it.

Sins 1 did go into Super weapon spamming, but they never decided a match. the Novalith cannon was EXCEPTIONALLY useless in that regard. Every starbase has an ability to prevent the loss of a planet due to bombardment and late game most players would have starbases over every planet of theirs anyway, the novalith cannon was just good for pretty much nothing. The Advent Deliverance Engine was a great intel device, but realistically wouldn't win you the game. And the Vasari cannon (I forget its name) was a great first strike because it disables a planets defenses (Structures only, excluding starbases) So you use that then send your fleet in and it makes taking planets easy. Unfortunately since every race can see where the shot is going, it makes it easy for them to move a fleet to the planet in order to defend. (Though late you should have multiple cannons so you can shoot them at multiple planets in order to keep them guessing) So while the Advent and Vasari Superweapons had tactical advantages they were far from decisive.

If I remember well, they were really just annoying economy-disruption devices. Maybe that's why they're being given another pass, more annoying to use and fight against than anything.

@@Syphaxis definitely. Though I am an Advent one trick, so I used the deliverance engine as a scouting tool.

I hope they will do justice to OG Sins. That bloody suit from garbage company called Rebellion certainly was a massive setback for time and finances so for once I am not angry about Epic exlusivity if it means the game will be made. Still I will wait till it comes out on Steam, but wishing Ironclad and Stardock best of luck with production. Don't fuck it up please, Sins was one of the best 4x around and I hope it can come back modernized without any stepbacks.

Hard disagree with the super weapon change. One of the TEC loyalist’s core ideas was to build tall behind a wall of starbases and nuke everyone from afar. If you have to build a novalith one or two phase lanes away, why not just use the resources you’d dump into one into more ships for your fleet? Advent’s would be useless at that range if you’ve developed your culture at all, and one of the perks to the kostora cannon is it also adds a phase node to the target world, hence letting you jump straight to an enemy’s capital on top of EMPing their defenses

Steam is also somewhat predatory in the games release market. Taking a LOT from some Game dev companies, and stifling competition at every turn. Which is why there's a class action against them (or more of a collective arbitration, I think...) by Steam users and Valve. To be clear, I'm absolutely not saying that has ANYTHING to do with why it's not on steam, AT ALL. I know absolutely nothing about Sins Devs, and steam vs epic. I was just pointing out a reason why "a dev" might choose to avoid releasing on steam.

I've seen the gameplay and i think it is just the same with the first one.. same units, same research, same buildings.. the graphics is only the changes in the second one

is there anything new here looks like just a upgrade in graphics.

honestly i never liked humans i avoid them in whichever game i can do so but there is one thing i find funny about the ragnarok titan. it always looked to me like somekind of cigar or cigarette and i once told that to my friends while playing sins 1 and ever since then its the USS Lung cancer to us.

It is better to say (sins of a solar empire reboot or remake or remastered) it doesn't deserve to be called soase 2

Just renewed my Twitch Prime sub to CoreyLoses for the 50th time!! That's 50 months in a row that I've been subbed through Twitch Prime.. At this point I'm more just eager to see how high the number will get to... Guess we'll just have to see! 😁😁😁 I'm certainly looking forward to the 17th year anniversary of Thrawn's Revenge / Empire at War: Expanded. Also... I'm especially eager for the upcoming Galactic Civil War branch of the mod. Certainly will be interesting to have the; Rebel Alliance, as a faction instead of the New Republic in EaWX for a change.

i just hate the UI, i REALLY hope they rework it

Shame its not on Steam. They lose a lot of sales with it not being on Steam. I for one refuse to install any of the crap launchers like Epic Games, Origins, etc on my PC. I like having all of my games in one place.

At some point after it's out of early access, it should be on Steam.

Sounds like a BETA released as 'completed'. Fail. Such a great game being butchered by suits that don't get it. Here's my advice: Put out a GREAT game that is reasonably finished and people will come. Put out a crappy half-finished product and try to string people along, and all you going to get is a big fail tag pinned on your forehead.

It's not a beta being released as a "completed" though? It's very clearly advertised as early access (ie, beta) and a lot of that has to do with it being a small company, not a bunch of "suits that don't get it." The development of the game involved hiring several people directly from the mod community of the first.

This looks incredibly disappointing. Just a worsened texture pack for soase1 that trades good art design for "quality". Hope its not sots2 all over again.
