I have a 6.5" cast iron pot. Do you think it needs to be elevated as in your video or would you try it directly on the heat diffuser?

Hmm, I don't cook with cast iron while backpacking. My guess is that a diffuser is all that you would need.

I've been following your site for a long time and I like your ideas. I have a MSR Cascade stainless steel pot set, with a 1, 2 & 3 liter pots. Would this work with a stainless steel pot or would I still need 2 pots and a ring to lift the inside pot?

Steel has better heat transfer characteristics for spreading heat than aluminum, so I would think steel would work very well. The trick would be calculating the time needed to dry bake. Experimentation will be your friend!

Stainless has poor thermal conductivity and will not work nearly as well as aluminum. Been there, done that.

Thank you. I also have a GSI 2 pot set that was designed to be a double boiler. The smaller pot is tall and about 3" in diameter. The wider pot has a lip on the bottom ( so it can sit in the other pot ), and I prefer to not cook with those type, as they can be a pain to clean.

Hello all. I really like some of your products, however I am really confused about your products and their little parts with so many odd names. I'm not sure exactly what most of them actually are! I don't intend this as a complaint, but only as an observation. Nevertheless, I will continue to determine what you sell as I definitely am interested in getting your setup so I can bake. Setup in this video looks fantastic! Thanks.
