Pentatonix are currently the only acapella group that has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! That’s how unstoppable they are!

They were contestants, this was their unmasking performance. They did use instrumentation for the masked singer so people would not be able to figure out who they were. As if anyone who knows PTX wouldn’t immediately know lol!

It was rather funny surfing the various reaction videos as the season was progressing and seeing everyone's guesses. Scott had the lead in almost all the songs and at least on the first performance he really tried to disguise his voice a little bit, but it did no good. Pentaholics knew who they were right away, LOL!

_The Masked Singer_ requires an instrumental backing track. Kevin said it's one of the reasons they wanted to go on the show; it was a way for them to stretch their arranging skills into a new area. The primary things they did to disguise themselves (besides not showing their faces, of course) were incorporating gloves into the costumes so the audience couldn't tell the racial makeup of the band, and not doing any beatboxing until their final performance. And the fact that they DID have Kevin beatboxing on "Creep" says to me that they'd arranged in advance for that to be their final performance; this was being filmed during the run-up to their 2023 world tour, so they couldn't appear for the whole season. Edit: And I was wrong about them arranging in advance to appear in only three episodes. I have since heard an interview with Scott where he says that they were disappointed when the audience voted them out and had two more songs prepared.

They did do some beatboxing on a previous song during their run on the show, but if was toward the end of their time there. I don't remember the name of the song, but one of the Judges shouted during the performance that they were beatboxing.

@@rfiliagaful Nope, that was "Creep," just not the unmasking performance. It was literally just minutes before this, and I do know the difference between "literally" and "figuratively."

@@margretrosenberg420 hmmm. I remembered them singing another one or two songs after the first Creep performance. But I certainly could have been wrong. Not sure what you are referring to with the difference of literal and figurative. Don't think I mentioned that. But thank you for the feedback.

👉👉This was AFTER THE REVEAL! They had taken off their costumes which was slices of California Roll (Sushi) I believe they came in 3rd place. THEY WERE AMAZING throughout the show. They HAD to work with a soundtrack. But they added all the vocals and extra sound effects!!! YES! you need to see the whole run. If you can find that season you can akso see the in between clues that were offered to try to guess who they were. 👉👉OF COURSE us Pentaholics knew from the VERY FIRST vocal note that it was Scott singing on their first song!!

This isn’t a capella. They were trying to ‘hide’ by using background music. Didn’t work. Everyone who knows PTX knew exactly who it was.

This was just after they were unmasked. Their stage name for the show was "California Roll," and their costumes looked like giant California Rolls with arms, legs, and "faces" made of shrimp and lettuce and such. The pictures on their tee-shirts are the faces that each one of them wore in costume, so people can get it straight who was wearing which costume.

The first performance on the Masked Singer, everyone knew it was Scott singing. You should react to all of Scott’s solo music.

They were contestants and were disguised as a giant California Roll (aka sushi, five pieces). But, anyone who knows Pentatonix knew almost immediately that it was Pentatonix with those beautiful harmonies. And no, unfortunately, they did not win.

Love seeing you react to PTX! I'd love for you to react to some of Mitch's original solo music too. He puts it out himself, so no label to block your reactions! He releases things under the name Messer. His most recent track Halfway is one of my favourites of his. And he wrote it, and co-produced it too. The videos are often a little bit odd for many people's tastes but I think they are interesting.

With or without instruments…PTX is PHEEEENOMINAL!!!

There is a compilation video of all their performances from their season. They were dressed as sushi but most of us knew who they were the first few seconds of their first song. Scott tried to disguise his voice but you could even tell by their mannerisms. This was their last performance after they were eliminated.

The outfits only make sense because they were dressed as the "California Roll" - each of them a different giant piece of sushi. They were unmasked just before this. The weird long gloves were there to hide any identifying features, since the arms stuck out of the costumes. We all knew who was under there the moment they opened their mouths, obviously, and you would have too, for sure!

Thanks guys! That was fun watching Marco lose his stuffing over this. They have done it onstage during last year's tour, but I think they used the backing music from the show with it. You're totally right...they can do anything they want. They have the vocals, the training, the perfect voices, the musical and tech knowledge...why not? There's solo work for almost all of them ( Matt hasn't done any yet, but we're awaiting it) and it's all great. Maybe check into some of Mitch's Messer pieces, or Kirstie's album...or Parallel, Scott's ep. And then there's Kevin's awesome pieces!!

This was one of the songs they performed still masked, so you can hear it without the yelling in the background if you choose. All of their performances were great. I knew it was Scott as soon as he opened his mouth!

They supposedly participated, so to hide their identity, they had instruments. However they were starting their tour. So I heard they were only contracted for a certain amount of show before being "eliminated ".

To compete in this show they had to use music, not a cappella. There is a video of all their performances on Masked Singer put together in one video. Amazing!!! I hope you can react to it. When I saw you had reacted to a PTX song this evening, I was THRILLED! I have so enjoyed ALL of your PTX reactions and miss you as both people and reactors. Keep 'em coming!

There are a number of compilation videos out there combining all of their performances from The Masked Singer. I'd love to see you react to it, but you absolutely need to see their performance of "Total Eclipse of the Heart". All five of them sing (Kevin has a few featured moments, which is always special), and the harmonies throughout are gorgeous. The weird backstory of the song notwithstanding, it's a great song and PTX takes it up a notch. And FWIW, two of the judges mentioned Pentatonix, although only the blonde judge stuck with them all the way through. The brunette should have been able to identify them, as she was a judge on The Sing-Off for the two seasons prior to PTX's run.

I do so love it when you react to Pentatonix! They have recently (-ish) split from their label for all but the Christmas music, so there may be a change with the copyright claims on their videos going forward, and wouldn’t that be nice. By all means, watch their entire run on The Masked Singer. Scott has said he tried to disguise his voice in the beginning, but you can judge for yourself how successful he was. In my opinion, their appearance on the show was a way for them to explore performing with more and more instrumentation, which seems to be something they are increasingly interested in. Which is fine by me - I’ll be here for any and all evolutions of PTX. Peace …

Pentatonix is still unstoppable. There is a vocalist here on youtube, who is the best male vocalist, his name is Dan Vasc. Dan is from Brazil and can sing anything from opera to heavy metal and everything in between. With his videos you don't have to worry about copyright. Dan records and does his videos out of his garage in Brazil. You really need to check him out, and talk about grit Dan does it best.

I'm sure you've already been informed about the Masked Singer. There is a compilation of all of their performances on the show including their "unmasking" and then this performance. Would LOVE to see your reaction to that but you should definitely watch it. You'll love all the genres they cover...

They were the Mystery Singer!

No they had ,music for this show. Which they found very challenging.

Two of my favorites are “falling in love with you “ Elvis and “God only knows” Beach Boys. Neither are over played.

They did a performance at the Oscar’s that was live. Search for Pentatonix Oscar’s Star Wars. Some people got upset because some of the performance has an orchestra playing with them, but it was a stellar performance!

Sorry. It was the AMAs. Just search Pentatonix Star Wars. I just rewatched it and it is simply amazing and something that nobody else could do as well as they did.

There is a video of all of their appearances and their unmasking but it’s a longer one. And another A Capella group covered this just after PTX blew our minds with this. Voiceplay did a different approach but so good too!

Okay- you MUST watch Kiss From a Rose (Vevo live) and O Holy Night official video (use filters and words to cover it). Mandatory! Be prepared (you can’t actually be), but try. Travesty that they came in 3rd because they were hands down the best, but at least it gave them good exposure.

in regards to your comments about Scott's voice, you know he has some solo stuff. You really should take a look at his "Flaunt It." Their is a small amount of adult verbiage, but so much fun, and Scott being Scott.

Check out Scott’s solo music since you love his voice so much. There are live performances of mars, parallel, and four.

I have a conspiracy theory on why they only placed third. They followed this with a tour, and perhaps they only agreed to be on the show if they left before the final due to this.

@@alan-freeman , that's a very kind theory. I just think that show is rigged and always has been. I watched two episodes when they first began airing the show years ago...and hated it for the fakeness. Never watched it again until vids of PTX doing their pieces showed up in my feed.

You gentlemen forget this is American Television. If you're looking for class you're in the wrong country. You see everyone is looking to be on TV by any means necessary and if that means yelling out when everyone is supposed to be quiet, well then let 'er rip!! I do have to say that you stopped this more often than you usually do which was disconcerting in itself. Not bad, but well beneath your usual high standard for a cohesive reaction. I'll have to watch the original performance so I can understand what was going on.

All other countries do not hold a monopoly on class. Cheering is encouraged on theses type of shows, like it or not. Producers have the say so on how to script their shows, not the audience.

@@chrispavlich9656 O.K?!! This I know but some other cultures encourage audience participation. The Philippines is particularly raucus especially when it is children performing. It is not necessarily the case in America. Maybe because it is a 'game show' atmosphere that that kind of participation is expected. So I see your point and the flaw in my biased opinion.
