Vocal Point is such a fun group! Just FYI they were on the Sing-Off the same season as Pentatonix. They had some great performances and became fans of Pentatonix too. One of the first Pentatonix concerts I ever saw was a combined concert of Pentatonix, Vocal Point, and Delilah together on the memorial day after the Sing-off. ❤

Bless your hearts! You have now been stunned!! BYU is a university in Utah, Brigham Young University. Vocal Point is their college a cappella group. This Vocal Point group came is second to Pentatonix in the Sing Off. That is how Avi knows about them. If you want to just laugh your self silly, watch some of their Sing Off performances!! The are a riot. And Fantastic! I have requested this piece to be reacted to by you two. This is not coincidence. Not by a long shot. I don't believe in 'fate' but wow.

I love that you were left speechless and thought it was just stellar. I love the polyphonic arrangement of this song, the meaning of the Latin overlaying the meaning of the English lyrics. The performance is flawless. If I were condemned and awaiting an execution and could make a last request, before meeting my Maker, I would request to listen to this version of this song and I would feel buoyed up, my faith firmly founded and ready to make that journey ever upward with courage in my convictions. This would prep my soul to soar into the beyond joyfully!

I was so excited to see this! Awesome job choosing a random video. For those who don't care for Christian or Gospel music, just appreciate the greatness of the performance. @Marco and Ali -- BYU stands for Brigham Young University which is a Mormon college in Utah, USA. Peter Hollens has collaborated with them numerous times. I don't know what the rules are regarding uploading YT videos, but I tend towards believing the reason you don't see any "religious" reaction videos is that they just aren't popular with the masses. As you can see, they are very much appreciated by your viewers -- myself included. Powerful voices, aren't they? Thanks for this -- very much.

I love BYU Vocal Point. I see that pretty much everyone has already pointed out that it's Brigham Young University, and the choir is the Men's Chorus, with the main guys in the forefront being Vocal Point (which includes a men's smaller group--nine, usually, I believe, and a woman's similar smaller group). They don't ALWAYS do "religious" or "gospel" songs, but they do focus on them, because that's the main point of the university. I'm not Mormon, but I'm also not AGAINST them as some Christians are, and in the comments on their videos, you can sometimes see a lot of "hate" stuff, which makes me very sad (sigh). At any rate, I thought that you might also like this one...their newest, in which the VP ladies arrive near the end: "You Raise Me Up" kzread.info/dash/bejne/pJeAzpJ6Xc--ecY.html Very good reaction, and once again, I highly appreciate your sensitivity to and knowledge of what music is for. Thank you very much! :-)

Its a Mormon University BYU stands for Brigham Young University, in Provo Utah and it was so great arrangement and shows that our born vocal of human kind can create such a nice sound and carries a feeling better then any music instrument out there . To ans your question why not many people reacting to it It is not you you have lots of follower but it is because it is a religion song and not many people out there do not want to associate with any religious beliefs out there nowadays and also the most reason why is because Its the LDS church also known as the Mormon church (nick Name ) people call the church.

I'm ex-Mormon and a BYU alumnus who generally dislikes Vocal Point, so I had irrational reservations about clicking on this video 😅 That said, this arrangement is stunning and the lead vocalist is extremely talented. Beautiful performance that I literally never would have bothered with if not for you guys, so... Cheers

Of course you are permitted to review. Glad you were just sitting there stunned, with your mouths open, as you said. This arrangement and the excellent performance brings us perhaps an earful of what heaven may sound like in the soaring simplicity and then multi-layered complexity buoyed up by significant spiritual meaning (especially when you translate the Latin) to contemplate the literal message lifted upwards, ever upwards to touch the eternal beauty of beyond!

I loved this rendition of "Nearer My God To Thee." I heard this via my new choir director. That, along with the fact that I like old worship songs and the Titanic are the only possible ways I could know this song. The dynamics throughout were amazing, how the choir sings especially during the transitions from the verses to the refrains. It's like they slowly creep up to you. First the Baritones and Tenors, then they split and increase in volume, and the Basses come in and really fill up the spaces of the room. This was beautiful! +Pax tecum+

+Vincent Reyes There are some wonderful men's choirs in the world and I've seen quite a few of them on KZread. If there was a Men's Choir Olympics this song would take out the gold medal because of its level of difficulty -your 2nd paragraph description is spot on. All those singers, two languages, and oh so tight. As good as it gets !

Black Smoke Drumline What i wrote equates to listening to a politician you strongly disagree with, but you admire their ability to argue their viewpoints. I love listening to what the BYU-people can do with their voices, but don't like most of what they sing. I'm sorry you weren't able to understand this pretty simple thing, but i hope an explanation helped you along the way.

Hello JohhnyNr5 -- I am glad you expanded on your comment as I was a bit confused why you would be loving the performance by and obviously religious group, but you explanation makes perfect sense to me. You don't prescribe to the doctrine, yet appreciate the beautiful choir. I happen to be a huge fan of Southern Gospel music even though the doctrine about which they sing doesn't exactly fit my beliefs. I also want to thank you for being patient and kind in your reply. That doesn't tend to happen very often. Cheers :*))
