As you hit her back catalogue, pay attention to when it was. Her singing has come a long way in 7 1/2 years. She is 16 in the oldest full song video still on her YT channel. It’s taken a long while to be selective with her vibrato. There are other things you will notice and be able to articulate. And I look forward to that analysis. Note: As she was born in July 2000, it’s easy to figure out how old she was based on the posting date. Today it’s the 1st half of 2024, so she’s currently 23. Have fun.

"Tears of Gold (Stripped)" is my vote for your next Faouzia reaction. It seems as though it has been Faouzia's signature, fan favorite song to this point in her career (although "Fur Elise (live)" is a powerful new contender!). My preference is for the specific 'Stripped' version which currently has 7.4 million views as opposed to the "Stripped: Live in Concert" version. The official music video version of "Tears of Gold" was produced with more of an urban pop style and simply doesn't highlight her vocal and emotive abilities the way the Stripped versions do.

@@TheWordSmith365 If you're feeling really ambitious and curious, I suppose you could consider reacting to both of the 'stripped' versions of "Tears of Gold" that I mentioned in one video. It's understandable that a trained and educated musician would be drawn to a truly live performance like the "Live in Concert" version. Heck, maybe even throw in some of the studio video version for contrast to see what we Faouzia fans are talking about when we rave about her Stripped versions. Haha!

Moroccan born Canadian - parents moved here when she was a baby. Extremely talented. Writes almost all her own songs, but does a few covers. She pronounces it FOE-zee-a. As others have mentioned, her stripped versions are much better. She does an amazing cover of the Sting song, Desert Rose, where she sings both parts (English and Arabic). Better than the original IMO.

Whoa is an appropriate response. But she’s also an example of how hard it is to become a well known pop singer. She was signed to a record contract just before her 18th birthday in 2018. She writes or cowrites all her songs. She’s sung on French rapper Ninho’s platinum album, sung with Galantis, David Guetta, Martin Solveig, Kelly Clarkson and John Legend. She’s sung at Montreux and Lalapalooza Paris. She’s released 2 EP’s. And has given concerts in Canada, US, Europe, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and sometimes accompanies herself on keyboard. She won the annual International Songwriting Competition at 16 with co-writer Matt Epp. Had been nominated twice for Canadian Juno music awards. And won two awards at 2022 All Africa Music Awards. Like you said, at least you found her now. This may be her best performance. “Tears of Gold” probably her best written song. (Stripped versions are better). My fav is still the stripped music video version of “Bad Dreams”. Even though she is a better singer now than five years ago. Have fun.

Welcome to the world of Faouzia ! She is as you say The real deal. As you have mentioned in your wonderful commentary and really intelligent, analytical breakdown,Faouzia is a singer who can sing wonderful highs beautiful lows and transition seamlessly through all of them with such vocal dynamics, breath control, vibrato and most importantly emotional connection. She is one of the great singer- songwriters in the world of music today. . She's not a mainstream popstar and may never be, but she is as good as it gets. This girl is multi-talented. We have always said that she has Beauty, brains and talent. Faouzia speaks three languages fluently, plays three instruments and is just completing her university degree in engineering. But most importantly, she is a true artist. Her artistical beauty in composition of her songs is as good as you can get. She writes most of her own music and as you will find out her strip versions with just a piano and or a cello are absolutely fantastic. Her videos are so visually exciting and fun to watch but are so much different than her strip down versions. I hope you delve deeply into all of her songs, and I appreciate your wonderful, expert commentary. You truly understand what a fantastic young artist she is. . I just discovered you in my feeds, d/t my obsession w/ Faouzia- literally a Canadian-Moroccan inspiration. As many have shared, her stripped down, live versions are some of the greatest pieces of music you will hear. It is her vocal acrobats that astound. The effortless way she sings. The clarity of her words (I feel for a period of time musicians coming into the limelight mumbled their words to create this trending sound). She is self-taught, writes her own songs, but plays homage to classics. As I have just come across your channel please excuse my ignorance, but if you are a fan of a wide-range of music, I think you would enjoy her take on "Middle Child" -- it brings such a different perspective to a rap song, sung in her version of what the song "could be". I loved your interpretative description of her vocals and skill. New Subscriber --- I look forward to seeing the rest of your videos. Please focus on Faouzia for a bit -- some favourites (How it all works out, Tears of Gold, and the above mentioned Middle Child). Thank you Carl, that was a great reaction, as I expected, her artistry combined with your ability to put down in words what you're hearing and feeling and your charming immediate physical response to music made this a very pleasurable reaction... Now, as you asked for suggestions: As you know I'm still waiting for your first encounter with Putri Ariani's deep musicality and vocal prowess at a very tender age, but as I know it'll be coming, whatever song it will be first, let me use this opportunity to suggest a special double reaction no one has ever done before: There's a famous song by Faouzia from quite early in her career, it's called "This Mountain"... This is the song that had me discover Faouzia, and my first encounter with it was not the original but a very unique and beautiful cover by another Indonesian artist (Putri is Indonesian...) by the name of Novia Bachmid on a great channel I'm following, which is called "Roommate Project" and the format is called "See You On Wednesday" as they publish a new video every Wednesday. Roommate Project are some very gifted instrumentalists who invite different vocalists for each performance to sing a song of their choice. Maybe you've watched Cakra Khan's epic cover of Tennessee Whiskey when he was featuring with Roommate Project, and there are a couple of other really great performances with more outstanding vocalists on that channel, but I'll come to those later... My suggestion today would be a double reaction to a) Faouzia's original and b) Novia's cover - of course not to judge on who is "better", but to enjoy a great song twice and witness two different artists who both have their own ways of interpreting the song, and both are vocally any emotionally thrilling, different as they are... You'll find Faouzia's song easily, I hope some die hard fan will suggest the best recording... Here's a link to Novia's great cover which had me so excited that I went to see where the song came from, and thus discovered Faouzia...: See You On Wednesday | Novia Bachmid - This Mountain (Faouzia Cover) Live Session kzread.info/dash/bejne/q6Zosc5shpXWh6Q.htmlsi=BraTkJSujz2hMR85 Peace and love from Bavaria my friend!

Thank you for your kind words, I'm glad you enjoyed the reaction! Your suggestion for a double reaction to Faouzia's "This Mountain" - both the original by Faouzia and the cover by Novia Bachmid on Roommate Project - sounds like a truly unique and exciting idea. I appreciate the thoughtful approach of enjoying both interpretations for their own merits rather than comparing them. I'm looking forward to experiencing the different artistic interpretations of the same song and witnessing the emotional nuances that each artist brings to their performance. Thank you for sharing the link to Novia's cover, I will definitely check it out and immerse myself in this beautiful musical journey. Peace and love from across the globe, my friend!

Faouzia doesn’t usually get as many views as the other two. Maybe because she didn’t compete on a tv talent show. in tv. Or maybe because her voice is the most different and a her vibrato a little harder to love.

I love this performance too. You'll have to search for it, but it's on YT. In May 2022, she did a twitch livestream for Amazon Music. I think that performance of "Anybody Else" will be a good one for your reaction. It's her original song too. And producer and frequent collaborator, Ferro Montanino, is the pianist on both. Her songs do tend to be overly dramatic, but what else to do with that voice? English is her 3rd language after Arabic and French. p.s. For a bit of a giggle, look up her short snippet of "Old Town Road".
