Sangee you woke up at 4am and did exercise and even fixed your diet when you went overseas by bringing your pre-packed meals. What do you mean you don't have discipline?

For all y’all out there. Tracking calories does not equate to an eating disorder or an eating disorder in the making. It is only bad once it leads to OBSESSION. U can log food in without seeing it as anything else other than data. To see which type of foods make you and help you perform the best, but at the same time maintain a HEALTHY body fat percentage and weight.

Those who say its a disorder are just making excuses for themselves 🤣 I mean you don’t have have to be OCD to the extent of calculating everything (try doing that for a bowl of BCM!) but its good to keep track to ensure you don’t over eat. Its not always easy to judge. For eg someone in lean bulking stage may have 300g chicken breast for lunch which seems like overeating but its not.

Yea, I counted my calories as part of my diet to lose weight at the end of last year. I was 75kg and lost 15kg in a couple months. It wasn’t just me cutting down on calories and starving myself, I would look at it and be like “oh, this food has lots of calories in it so I will substitute for something that has less calories so I can eat more food and be full without having too much calories”. So I ate a lot of healthy food and I also worked out. It really helped me to just keep track of the data, without it I probably would of ended up failing the diet very quickly.

Just a gentle reminder that food does not hold inherent moral value! There is no such thing as a ‘bad’ food or a ‘good’ food :) Avoid punishing yourself if you steer a bit away from your goals - we are human, and you trying is already something to applaud 🙌🏻💙

I had been struggling with the slow but constant weight gain since graduating. Started working out but only saw my weight drop slowly after I tracked my calories. It was easier than I thought actually. Just portion my food throughout my day properly. I still eat unhealthy stuff but at least I am more aware. Ate slightly below maintenance calories and after a while could see the weight drop slowly

Depending on how much fat you gained, a more sustainable method of fat loss from my personal experience is a combination of gym & calorie deficit. But do it slowly lah don’t jump from 2500 cals to 1500. And once you’ve lost sufficient fat, slowly increase the cals but emphasis on more protein.

hey! I just wanted to say that as someone who used to suffer from an eating disorder, counting calories and revealing their weight may be very triggering to some people, especially since Sew is quite underweight (based on BMI). They also tend to portray calories in a negative way (e.g. with the starbucks drinks), but calories in and of itself are good because it provides the body with energy for daily activities. Instead of counting calories, they can cut down on unhealthy food groups, because a calorie goal may not accurately represent what a person needs, and your body knows itself best.

IMO BMI is too simplistic a way to determine “ideal” weight. Two people with same height and same weight but one is fat the other is muscular. Very different. Its about fat loss not weight loss. Not everyone, not even some doctors, understand this & thru their rote learning, keep talking about weight loss. If i was 1.7 m & weighed 80 kg, I’d be worried if i was 80 kg of fats. If I was a bodybuilder, I wouldn’t give 2 craps about BMI cos I know I am healthier than most people with “healthy” BMI simply cos muscle weighs more than fat.

Me too, suffered with eating disorder and now still struggling. This is so triggering and misleading especially when you know that calorie counting doesn't even work, you can't even work out how much you burn and metabolise etc. just based on a few numbers like your age and height etc. Counting and mentally inputing what every food is is just an eating disorder in the making. I know that they want to promote the meal plan but it is not right.

@@P53eud0nym05 Yes, BMI is flawed as it does not factor in your bone size and the minimum muscle mass needed. So for Sew, 35kg could be just well at the lower end of her normal range given she is 1.5m (and wrist size of 11cm?). For me, at 1.72m and a big bone of wrist size 19.6cm circ (avg), my ideal weight range is 75-96 which translates to a BMI of 25.3515 - 32.4499, but my BMMI is normal (I'm about 95 kg).

I love how the comments section is educating people on the false impression of calories and BMI. I personally am trying to gain 4kg for the past 8 years. It took me 8 years to gain 2kg. I am the type where I'm almost always eating 2 portion of food every meal. I meant guys portion and I'm a female. It has given me quite a lot of stress that every year resolution never succeeded. But the comment section were right. Everyone has different body types and metabolism works differently for everyone. I know some might be envious of this, but in all honesty, I suffered anxiety over this. The grass might be greener here but it's fake grass. I do advocate healthy eating such as cutting down on sugar and avoiding processed food. I hate processed food and potato chips. And favorite coffee shop drink is Teh O Peng KOSONG. 😂😂😂 Haters gonna hate but I'll probably live longer than the haters. 😂😂😂

Counting calories is a good way to give you an idea of how much energy you are consuming and where the majority of it is coming from (ie. lots of sugars vs. fat vs. protein etc). I would not recommend it for people with an unhealthy body image and mindset when it comes to food. If you want to look more toned or lose weight -> ask yourself what the motive behind it is first. Then, start lifting weights! Building lean muscles mass is the way to go as it increases your body metabolism and actively burn calories even at rest. Lastly, make sure you eat enough protein- could be a reason Mandon is not seeing any body changes (his diet seems more carb-based).

Eating disorder in the making when you start to think about how much calories each food has and how much you need to burn off, just based on a highly inaccurate online calculator which tells you to input a few generic numbers like age and height and weight. Trust me, I have done this when I had an eating disorder. I know that they are trying to promote the meal plan but it ain't right.

  • @rachelcookie321

People with eating disorders tend to count calories but counting calories within itself is not a bad thing. If you have an eating disorder it can be bad but lots of healthy people without eating disorders use it too. You just have to use it correctly. Lots of athletes count their calories, not to lose weight but to gain muscle. It is completely fine using a calorie counter, as long as you don’t get obsessed with it. I used it in the past and it was very useful for me to just keep track of what I was eating and to help me eat healthier.
