The soap sponge is a huge welcome improvement compared to the old prickly powder dry bath!! Lighter and takes up less space! Hope going forward we are able to see such improvements and allow soldiers to sustain longer in the battle field.

I smiled and laughed throughout this episode. The girls are all so cute. I served NS in 1980 and I could not recognise most of the items shown haha. In those days, we didn't use Garters - we use rubber bands. There was no arc of fire sticks - we just use our imagination. And last but not least, we do not have soap sponge - we dry clean with baby powder and sometimes we go without bath for 4-5 days. Those were the days. Salute to all, past and present, for serving our Nation and protecting her. Thank you TheSmartLocal for this informational and funny episode.

They were not entirely wrong regarding the grenade pouch though. When it's not used to carry grenades, we put other stuff in it because it's very accessible.

the grenade pouch is the best place to hide small items, since you wont possibly be having one on yourself (aside from dummy nades) most of the time

Main reason why some of my female friends really thought NS is only Army, cos media in SG always make it like NS = Army. Some don't even know what SCDF is (even some of my male friends)
