Yes. We don’t have all the information and knowledge that each candidates have, or had presented to the PEC. What’s more, unfortunately, not all Singaporeans have the same level of critical thinking skills that certain people have. You need critical thinking skills to know who is suitable for the country, or else you’ll blindly select candidates unfit for the job. What’s more, if they have the critical thinking skills needed to decide which candidates are suitable for presidency, then wouldn’t you think they would be on the PEC? So stop, think and reflect about why certain things are the way they are instead of making up assumptions that fits your narratives and beliefs

Why doesn’t the PM know when the affair began? Can’t he ask a simple question and get a factual response? Then of course they accuse those of us seeking truth of rumour mongering! Whatever the reason PM Lee had decided in 2017 that TCJ was not to feature prominently in the leadership succession plan. Following his meteoric rise his downward trajectory has now reached rock bottom.

Who define the role of Singapore President? Interview should be by people and not the media. All 3 had summarised well many issues they had gather over decades. They are talking at a level which some of them did - in Singapore "Conversions". And as NTUC leaders. Many citizen and workers issues could have been looked into long thim ago when they hold their previous position. ( as ministers and union leaders ). What will be different if they are elected as president. Who is in our CPA? Council of President's Advisors. Said it all.

If only given the extreme advantage of the entire Machinery in an unlevelled praying field. 2 standards

PAP brand has become increasingly toxic since the 2015 general elections. Successive price increases, housing worries (as leasehold land will eventually depreciate to zero), forged MRT maintenance records, a compulsory CareShield Life policy, and a controversial Presidential election are all factors which will surely affect the PAP at the next General Election. But as Lee himself noted, there needs to be the other factor, which is for the opposition to have an equal team. To lend weight to this coalition is a wildly popular ex-PAP MP with more than 30 years of political experience. Perhaps he is not the only one, with numerous ex-PAP men making their grouses against the current incumbent known - Inderjit Singh, Ngiam Dow Tong and even Goh Chok Tong.

Some may complain George Goh not SG born but he pays more taxes than all of them combined. Heard Tharman is from Sri Lanka don't know true or not.

Singapore as a small country should take steps to prevent loss of individual money to scam especially using digital currency. Perhaps we can use some of the traditional security like the trusted "serial number" on old printed notes. This can be elevated to encrypted "serial number" for each digital denomination and if stolen or lost can be rendered void by issuing a new "encrypted" serial number for the specific individual digital denomination. This should be workable if the ASEAN country decides to adopt enhanced security measures for digital currency usage. Perhaps the new President can address this issue too.

A President must be a good representative of the country; dignified and able to engage with all levels of society and on the international stage. There is already a winner in the horizon. Tharman shines literally. We see a lot more of him than the other candidates.; given a brief exposure that is not enough to prove to the people other than election campaign talk about managing our reserves, which is just wishful. If PAP does the shortlisting, why do we even need to have an election. I don’t get excited about this hype. It’s a test bed for the General Elections. Those who vote against the PAP candidate do so not because they want that candidate for President but more because they oppose the PAP for the sake of opposition.

3 is more than enough unless u want to have a House of Presidents similar to House of Lords in UK. In Malaysia they have Sultans to choose a King. Maybe good to have GRC Type Presidency so if One goes to heaven, no need Election.

Thats why many people think we might as well do away with the president, to save tax payers money. But then, seeing how the past Presidents hv readily and speedily agree to release our reserves, we really need a president who will dare to check on the gov: to ensure that our investments are profitable, to urge gov to be thrifty, dont anyhow spend, and maybe question the need to keep on raising GST that caused more inflation, land sales, more hardship for some families.

Personally, I think Mr Tharman is the best choice, having been in politics for many years, he was Finance Minister too. Hence, he will not be a stranger to foreign dignitaries and journalists. Many foreign dignitaries when visiting SG will likely call on the President, they will be very comfortable interacting with Mr Tharman, no doubt. He will do SG proud.
