My grandmother told me her mother told her in the past (maybe 1920's -40's), Hainanese chicken rice hawkers peddled their food and sold it along the streets. Those who could not afford to buy a bowl of chicken rice would pay five cents for a wrist-size chicken rice ball. Eating the rice alone was already a savory.

Nice! Just ate at 福林豆腐園 last Monday, wanted to go 美味起骨雞飯 initially, but realized it was not open on Monday... There is a popular Beach Road Prawn Mee in-between these 2 places that you can try next time... :)

The rojak in the coffee shop is good too.

Try homemade waffle cone ice cream - Bird of Paradise Gelato Boutique. I like white chrysanthemum. It is quite near 328 katong Laksa (51East coast road) . Opposite Katong Plaza. Try Beach Raod prawn noodle house @ east coast road. Couple of bus stop after 328 Laksa.

If you are coffee lover, try Brawn & Brains coffee east coast. Try their Pen & Pencil (house blend) cuppuccino $5.5 ( Brazil, Colombia,Ethopia). One bus stop after 328 Laksa. Opposite Five Star 五星Kampung Chicken Rice is nice too.

Normally dry version is to b eaten with rice, that's y it's salty. If u just want to eat the Yong tau foo, u should order it with soup

U should also try the Japanese restaurant, Wahiro which is next to the Katong Laksa u ate. Walk further down East Coast Road, there's also another good Yong Tau Foo - Ampang yong tau foo and a very authentic Korean restaurant, Doongji.

Try Tolido's Espresso Nook Cafe @ Crawford Ln. Always long queue. I tried banana French toast (just nice for two) and cappuccino coffee for high tea. Both are nice. Than walk to Sultan Mosque, Malay Heritage Centre, Muscat St, Baghdad St, Arab street, Haji Ln. Try Blanco Court Prawn Mee @ beach road (Same as Beach Road Prawn mee @ east coast road), try Mrs Pho Vietnamese restaurant @ beach road

Katong is a well known food place. There are lots of nice eateries there. I am sure you can make more trips there. Along East Coast Road, there is also famous Beach Road Prawn Mee. Your food sampling will be helpful for HK visitors.

廿幾年前剛過嚟，就住係katong shopping centre 對面，日日過去食雞飯，買水果，嗰時水果比HK平好多。慢慢你會發覺hk啲雞肉本身有味D, 有口感D, sg啲雞就靠D汁。但兩個我都like. Also like your videos so far, hope u like your stay here. Stay safe and stay healthy.

Would be nice if you had something Peranakan at Katong like Nonya bak chang or kueh. There's also a vanishing hawker dish called Tau Kwa Pau at Dunman Food Centre which is within the Katong area. The name of the shop is Say Seng Tau Kwa Pau.

Actually, that chicken rice store in Katong Shopping Center basement serves one more soup (if I am not wrong). It is 花生雞腳湯. But it is not free of charge. It costs SG$5.-

It’s free subject to ordering other side dishes , example oyster sauce veg , chicken feet etc , however if you are a long term for hard customer usually it’s free and unlimited, drink till you drop . Even on the go which is a common sight , daily changes not necessarily peanut chicken feet soup , example Wednesday usually ABC soup

Chicken soup comes with the nutrients of all the chicken cooked

Oh, you should have tried the pineapple salad in this chicken rice stall. It’s one of their specialty too!

Wah, This place you also discover.......BOH secret Liao Lor.......hehehe

Next time order the peanut soup from chicken rice shop, is nicer :)

You might want to consider visiting 红星. Also known as Red Star Restaurant located at china town area. They sell very authentic Cantonese cuisine. They have been in Singapore for a very long time.

Irene, 建议你试Jalan Besar 出名的 结霜桥啦沙 Sungei Road Laksa。他们的laksa是用碳火煮的。味道比较轻爽, 不会腻，一碗$3 。可以买隔壁摊的otak,加料。

Went to 328 for laksa last week... decided to drop by kim Choo to purchase the肉粽 and some kuehs...but I was utterly disappointed with the items bought from kim Choo... my mum is peranakan and she was very disappointed too. Sigh!
