Singapore trains not only in local jungle, but harsh jungles of brunei, taiwan & thailand. Being a civillian army, we may not be as physically fit as lets say US Marines or TNI, but we prioritise functionality marksmanship and detailed strategic planning as those are more important elements than mere physical fitness itself.

In Singapore, defence and deterrence are like the foundation of a house whilst diplomacy and bilateral ties with other countries are like the walls that keep the house standing. You may be able to survive alone but when you have friends, surviving becomes easier.

I was in the army in 1983 to 1985 . The training was so tough n crazy , because our trainer mostly trained from the SAF BOYS SCHOOL since they were 16 years old. When come to training in any case any place any country ,, SINGAPORE army take their training seriously and professionally to gain experience and respect from their neighbors humbly. WAR is not our way of life , but we cannot take things for granted. Because we cannot rely on anyone else except our own band of Brothers. We will live and die as ONE.

Spartan Productions we should rest the sovereignty upon our hands. Should war come no one would rush here putting down lives for us if we don’t expect our own to put our life at the forefront. We are a small country with limited man power that is why we have to run the most advanced weaponry and forever push forward so as to act as a force multiplier. Our military buildup are designed to take on 2 immediate large neighbours concurrently and over run them with precision strikes wave after wave followed by holding of key staging areas. These are just known strategies Singapore maintains and as a soldier these rulebooks are not known till the event of war in which no one would hope for. Peace is a sometimes taken for granted in which rowdy neighbours often threatened our way of life and that is why we took it upon ourselves to design a modern capable strike force with base around the world and training troops around the world.

I trained in Sattahip naval base and Songkla naval base with the Royal Thai Navy. The Thai Navy is very professional and serious in their training.

Populasi Indonesia hampir 9 kali lipat dibandingkan dengan populasi Malaysia, dan hampir 4 kali lipat dibandingkan dengan populasi Thailand. Jadi, istilah terkuat di Asia Tenggara adalah 100% sangat wajar. Simon THOMAS highly doubt you lived here before. Because it’s hard to miss a high profile military that is south east Asia’s most powerful and most efficient. Capable to even hold off and eventually gain control on all immediate neighbouring countries... it’s basically the Israel of the east in simpler terms but without the evilness claimed by foreign media and thought so by countries world wide.

Meow Meow that’s a good question. I am 45 this year and have served in the Singapore Armed Forces and was also in the reserved force for another 14 1/2 years where we lived our civilian lives and return to our unit annually for training. When I was much younger I have my doubts about our military’s capabilities too. After all most of our forces are conscripts whereby we are drafted for a full 2 years of service. In a way we felt being forced into service. We complaint, we mourned, we suffered through all the thick and thin, but at the end of the day we all understand one thing. We are a very small country and if we don’t do our part to defend it, who will? I remember filling up a study survey form to determine our mental health after every duty and some of the questions presented to us has to do with how prepared are we to go out and do our missions. I thought hard about it, I thought about the camaraderie my camp mates and I have shared, the families and friends that are still living on this small island country and home, I thought about the economy should a war break out and how it will affect everyone’s lives and my answer will always be “Yes” I will put my life on the line. At least this is the answer you will get from an ex soldier who have served his time in the army. Now that I am honourable discharged from service, and if a war should break out now I will volunteer for service to defend my country. Even if I can’t run I will shoot down as many as I can. I guess being an adult and seeing things in a different perspective compared to my younger days has shown me that there are still people and things worth defending for and laying down my life for.

HaizMomo Keyboard Warrior we cannot play into their tricks. The Malaysian prata man DR Mahathir is still jealous about Singapore even till his age of 93 a leopard never changes its spots. We Singapore will always be the best candidate to be chosen as Malaysia’s storyline to be a punching bag for them so as to divert internal unrest within malaysia by focusing on Singapore for stupid reasons like eggs, fish, exports, LOL.... and even ships which we can blow up easily without any interference when their ships can’t even sail but by doing that it makes our countries immediately in war which is no good for business either side considering we go to war just to feed a 93 year olds ego. It’s stupid to even reply to him with former response from the government ministry... That is why Singapore PM went on his holiday because he deemed this saga pointless LOL..

HIgh level training exercise like RIMPAC, BERSAMA LIMA, FIVE POWER DEFENCE ARRANGEMENT participating countries, RED FLAG and many many more... These are all regional exercises with foreign militaries
