I’m a 13 year old kid and I first heard this song at age six and fell in love. I listened to nothing but Benny Goodman from then on! It made me a fan of jazz and swing and inspired me to play the saxophone. I still love this song and all of Benny’s music!

We should get the names of the actual guys playing on this recording in here. Other than Gene Krupa on drums none of them show up in the video. Too bad. They were Harry James, Ziggy Elman and Chris Griffin - Trumpets, Red Ballard and Murray McEachern- trombones, Hymie Schertzer and George Koenig on Alto sax, Art Rollini and Vito Musso, tenor sax, Jess Stacy on piano, Harry Goodman, bass and Allen Reuss on guitar. Those of us who have old Benny Goodman albums with recordings from the late 30's will recognize some of these names but even so, I thought we should include them here as well.

@hackberryflat

Yes, Louie Prima composed it. A musical work of genius. Benny Goodman's 1937 arrangement made it even more famous to a wider audience. BG's arrangement is the one played when he had Krupa on drums, Harry James on trumpet, and was at the height of his popularity. The film shown has it dubbed into the sound track. Krupa and Buddy Rich are competing here. These film clips are just that; clips assembled to fit the sound track. A note in passing, Artie Shaw was a touch greater a "reed man" than BG.

@dougball328

I had the same musical upbringing. They tossed in folk music, too. I loved Glenn Miller. My parents took me to a concert one evening. They wanted to dance, so they carefully parked me at the far edge of the stage where they could see me. Ray McKinley (Miller's drummer during the war and now band leader) looked a little surprised but let things ride. It worked. They played twice more in the next three weeks in Ohio and I begged my parents to take me. Needless to say they didn't mind - nor did the band mind having a 5-6 your old totally in love with their music. I always cried at Moonlight Serenade - such a beautiful song but it also meant that the night was over.
Wow this stuff never gets old 🤩❗ Awesome swing time music with the great Benny Goodman. So many familiar faces: musicians actors dancers singers. Ahh youth eh, blessed youth ♡! 💁🏼♀️🐦👍

Это пронзительное мастерство
"Sing, Sing, Sing" (not sure if that is the original title) was composed by Louis Prima, and recorded by Benny Goodman in California in 1936. Then Goodman's orchestra played a longer version of it in concert at Carnegie Hall in Midtown Manhattan on January 16, 1938--and the audience went nuts over it. Gene Krupa on drums.... The rest is history. LOVE THIS!! Who said music from this era is boring??? Seriously??

"Oooooooooohh" what a great piece of music, and rich celebration of raw life. In my childish way, I beg the powers of the multiverses to set aside a special place and time where we can all get together again, to love and laugh and dance, and sing. There was a place in the multiverse that actually existed once. I know because I've been there. The power of this music, and the power of this joy transcends all the primitive racist misconceptions, and bizarre prejudices of America. I sincerely hope ( "HAPPINESS ") may return to our bitterly divided land someday soon. These cats had some gravitational pull that will be tough to match.
