I've struggled to sing with the lower end of my range for years. I don't sing in tune down there and it just doesn't sound good. This video was like an instant fix! Seriously! I watched this earlier today, I practiced with some of these techniques and then I just recorded myself. I was so excited because my problems with the low notes are fixed. Thanks Victoria!

I am a dramatic baritone who has to sing bass 2 in a choir. Your lessons helped especially the reminder to keep the embouchure small while maintaining the ring with the lifted upper palate.

Hey, Love your videos. You're very energetic. I'm watching because I really want to kill it at karaoke with friends once things get back to normal, lol. I was going to ask if low notes were worth developing since it feels like most songs go high instead of low, but then you said that developing the low ones should help with everything. To defend myself, my low notes are kinda low for a woman, but I don't think they're like shockingly low, and like the one time I was in a music class that involved singing they never bothered to go that low in warmups. And I got the impression from the music teacher that it wasn't important when I asked about it. I guess a related question I have is this: if your lowest couple notes are just kinda creaky, are they actually your lowest notes or just sounds you can make? Like, occasionally I can make a good singing sound for A2, but G2 I can pretty much only just hit the pitch and only if I'm not tired lol. I've been trying to get them though, since it feels like it makes my B2 sound better.

There is a different between your absolute range and your singing range. In performance, you want to show off your voice in the best sounding and relatively easy part of your range. High notes are the icing on the cake, and low notes are the deep spice. Sing what sounds best in your voice. I love karaoke! Have fun!

How to develop lower notes if I can sing them only while being relaxed but can’t reach them while practicing? For example, after some warmup exercises I feel that the low notes have left the chat. Sometimes I could sing some low notes even while performing on stage and sometimes they are not even there. What to do in order to develop the low notes and make them be always with me?

Thanks for so much informative videos.........I have been following your tutorial since a month and have seen a huge improvement in me and your formula's are just wow!!!!..............but I have a doubt, I'm unable to bring nasal resources in my low voice even after trying "Me Me me" exercise........ kindly suggest some solution for the same.

  • @Victoria-Victorious

Try lengthening the nasal consonant (M, N or NG) on a single pitch and then open up slowly to a vowel. It could also be that you are digging into your low voice and depressing your larynx by pushing down your tongue. That will give you a dull and heavy sound.

Thanks for this video! I really need it! I want to ask you something . I have a hoarseness of the voice(not to much) , because of some flues from the past. What I should do ,to help my voice and to sing properly, even with this hoarseness . Is it a problem? Can I sing forward, even if I have it? How can I ameliorate it ? Any advice that is good , it will be helpful! Thanks !

Do not sing if you are hoarse. I recommend seeing an ENT, especially a laryngologist, to make sure that your vocal folds are healthy. Hoarseness that lasts for more than 2 weeks needs to be addressed.

I used to be in a choir for a year and I was classified as a first alto but sometimes my teacher would make me sing with the second or even first sopranos. I feel more comfortable with my lower notes ( I can comfortably sing low notes sung by singers such as Sade and Toni Braxton) but I would like to strike that balance between my high and low notes, and avoid that tightness in my throat, be able to sustain my notes and be able to switch between them. How can I do that please?

Can you develop acid reflux or an injured esophagus from singing too low for too long with the larynx tightly pressed down? I have just realised I do this and had serious acid reflux and esophagus pain in hospital a few months ago after a lot of singing practice.

Well, I cannot give you a definite answer because that is a medical issue, BUT I can say that pressing (forcing) the larynx down creates a lot of tension and problems. Watch my new video on the larynx which was just published a few hours ago!
