Sin and Punishment 1CC - No Death, Catpat Commentary Run

I always wanted to set some time around to play Sin and Punishment, and with the English patch, it's a bit more accessible. It's totally possible to play this without the translation, considering there's English voice acting. But reading the tips in practice mode makes it easier to understand the controls. Regardless, I've known about this game since it was available as part of the Wii virtual console series. Originally this was released in Japan Nov 21, 2000 on the Nintendo 64. It was developed by Treasure and published by Nintendo. Over time it's become a cult classic and after learning the in and outs of the game, I can see why. It easily became a personal favorite. After first running through it to get the overall feel of the game, I decided it would be a welcoming game to 1cc (1 credit clear, no deaths). I grinded it out when I had some spare time (thankfully it's not a long game) and on my first attempt after practicing separate segments of the game, I was able to clear it! Very sloppily at that!

Thanks Mark! It's become one of the few N64 games I really love.
I remember seeing the Wii sequel on G4 as a trailer on Cinematech and being blown away with how dense the enemies and the bullets were. Congrats on the 1cc

Oh yeah! Can't wait to dig in Sin and Punishment 2. They also released the 1st game on the Wii shop as part of their Virtual Console series.

Somehow I've 1cc'd star successor but not the first one, albeit with mouse and gamepad (controls amazingly). Unrelated but a game I've been in love with for a while now is the pocky and rocky remake, strong recommendation, along with the original.

I definitely want to get into Sin and Punishment 2. I bought it a couple months ago because I remember owning it years ago, but only getting half way through it. I never beat it, but I really enjoyed it. Not really sure why I gave it up. When I get some time I'm going to set it up through Dolphin (just because it will look better) and configure my Wii controller. I have a usb sensor bar too. And Yes, Pocky and Rocky Reshrined has been on my radar.

@@cat-pat8310 One thing you need to do (I found) to enjoy S&P2 fully is go into the options and map the melee and shoot commands to separate inputs rather than the S&P1 shared button scheme. Since the melee is no longer contextual like the first game, and by extension can actually whiff, being able to time it is crucial and the lag induced by having it mapped to the shoot button *release* rather than a button *press* is unideal.

such a fantastic game. this game is the reason im looking for a usb n64 controller. S&P is such a blast.
This is an amazing video, well done. I completely missed the slashing and double jump when i first tried it. Playing it again today and its brilliant. Thanks

Yo lets go! I love this game but I haven't even put the time into 1cc'ing it (due to controller things, I prefer it on n64 controller and can't use it currently), so good stuff!

The game was tailor-made with an n64 controller in mind. I can play it with other setups... but I'd rather not.

You could kill the 2-3 boss faster by shooting the ceiling where the boss hangs from and the boss falls and you can shoot it while its on the fliir.
