This look at Simply Red and songs covered over such a long span led me, as it often does, back to the original..."If You Don't Know Me By Now" written by Gamble and Huff and performed by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. When you go to the original release that has been put on ytube it becomes apparent why songs and music are so important to the human spirit...pages of comments that attest to the emotional impact and importance of this classic song. Then a crowd shot at a Simply Red performance...undeniable how this music moves the soul...Thanks once again for pureemotion compiling a thought-provoking lesson!

I had completely forgotten about Simply Red until I came across this video. Hearing these songs brought back memories of the late 80s/early 90s. And Kelly Clarkson is such a force of nature. As soon as she starts singing, I get the chills, and she can bring me to tears. Thanks for posting this and bringing back memories of where I was and who I was almost 40 years ago.
