I remember one year while growing up I had an aunt and uncle who lost there house due to a fire they had seven kids .There was eight of us plus our parents. That was 15 kids and 4adults in a 3 bedroom house. All the girls shared a room and all the boys shared a room for a while. My aunt and uncle slept in the living room. My mom and aunt was sisters. We always had a huge garden growing up to save on food cost.We also had chickens, pigs, and at one time our own honeybees.

That had to be sooooo stressful for all involved - especially the adults. But I bet there are some fun memories of that chaos. It’s lovely that your folks took them in regardless of family size and resources. ❤

We are a large family in a small house, too! We bought some cheap saucer chairs that fold up and only have a small couch in our small living room. The kids can pull the chairs out anytime we need them and the adults get the couch. It works well for us.

For the soup you could cut the butternut squash in half and take out the seeds. Put the flat side on an oiled baking sheet and leave it in the oven for about 20 minutes plus cooling down and you can then peel the skin right off. No knife needed for this and the squash basically falls to mash once heated with broth.

Sarah, I love your videos! So encouraging and God glorifying! My hack for butternut squash soup, cut the squash in half long ways, lay them flat on a baking sheet, roast at 400 until it's soft, take it out to cool, scoop out the seeds and then when you're ready to make your soup, scoop the "meat" into the pot. No peeling and chopping! 😆

For the tree skirt, just get a couple packs of the fake snow that looks like pillow stuffing and put it inside of it to cover up the bottom of the tree. I think that’ll look really cute and if you use the right type of snow, it doesn’t make a big mess because it is all one piece. Also, if one or two packs aren’t enough to fill the space, just roll up a blanket or something to put underneath the snow so it’ll fill in the space but can’t be seen once you add the snow on top. Good luck!!

I live in a 2 bedroom one bathroom house with 6 kids , my mother in law, my husband and I. The problem is 5 of the 6 children are girls with 1 fourteen year old boy. My mother in law is on hospice and sleeps in my living room and my grandson sleeps on the sofa, while the girls share the bedroom. It is very small and people have attitudes a lot but we make it work and wouldn't change much if we could. Maybe another room and bathroom! Lol!

God bless you and your family. 😊 I have three generations living in my small house too. Yes it can be a little chaotic (my 40 year old daughter sleeps in a bunk bed with my 9 year old grandson). I'm soooo blessed that they truly understand that we have to give a lot of grace to each other and to enjoy the blessings God has bestowed on us each day. (It really helps to keep the home happy. 😊). Again, God bless your family as you are going through this hospice care, etc.

I love putting puzzles together. Years ago I started putting them together on a corkboard bulletin board. It makes your puzzles portable while you're still working on them. You can move the puzzle corkboard off your table and slide it under the couch to get it out of the way when not working on it. This might help you while you're living in your smaller house. 😊 Hope this helps.

It's a good quarter mile each way? hike to totally random trees close and far apart of all shapes and sizes. A lot of people hack off a top piece because they're too tall. Last year we hacked the top off and brought a bottom home haha

Much easier than all that peeling and dicing. Cut squash in half put on baking sheet pan bake until knife slides easily into the skin and flesh. Hope this makes it easier for you.

Hi Sara and Tribe Of Many Family. Thank you for sharing this video it taken me back down memory's lane. I grew up in the south, with a household of thirteen, 11girls, plus Dad and Mom. We grew up with pigs, cows, chicken, horses and fruit trees, berries in the woods, fun and precious memories. Also Sara, it was very normal to find coins and other options under the couch, when rearranging the furniture. Plus I remember having thirteen people in our small, I believe two bedroom home, we definitely a lot of wear on our couch. Having at times, too use a brick or block or some objects to replace the broken leg on the couch.❤❤❤

Pumpkin soup is one of my favourites! We call Butternut Squash, Butternut Pumpkin over here in Australia but whatever you call it, it all tastes the same! Love that Christmas Tree!

Love that you moved the couch. Fireplace became more of a focal point. It's fine that people have to enter from around the stairs. The tree looks so pretty. I've been pairing down my holiday decorations too. I find it hard to cut butternut squash. But if you cut it in half, take out the seeds, rub with olive oil and place flat side down in the oven to cook. Soups are great all winter.

I saw someone putting pipe cleaners with a little tag which part of the tree the section is, so no more confusion while assembling the tree. Thought that was a very clever idea

White Chicken Chili is a great one too. We usually make it with leftover Turkey from Thanksgiving. Just made a batch Saturday and put extras in the freezer.

I have made butternut squash soup from frozen chunks. Such an easy way to do it and it turns out just as good, (if not better since it was less work).

Sara Purina makes a cattle cube that is completely like candy to cows. We have tamed down our whole beef heard with it. They love to snack on it or just have it for a treat. Its also amazing for if your cows manage to escape because they will follow you anywhere when your feeding them the cubes. I don't know if they make an organic one but its an amazing tool to have in your cow journey!

Love the idea of stocking the freezer with the soups to get you through the December chaos. Worst case acenario if you don't have time to do soup + dinner: make a doub/le (for you) batch and have half for dinner and youll still have enough for a 2nd night later.
