    Always nice to see another SafeTech video! The random ADA MASS and the random BG-12 were an odd.. Obviously they replaced original devices but I always tried to replace with same brand when I'd have to replace a piece in the field. Just an interesting choice.

    For a small panel I gotta say the 4007es is one of the most versatile units I’ve ever seen. I have experience working with these and programming these as I own one and es.exe unlicensed version 6.01.03. Not only that, I got accepted at Lincoln tech trade school which is a direct way into JCI academy which will get me a job at SimplexGrinnell.

    Hey SafeTech, nice to see another video from you! Hope you're doing okay! (cool new intro too!) Nice to see that 80s-era Simplex system still working great! (even if the panel's been replaced & some of the horns sound a bit off) It almost seems like some of the 2903-9001s (like the one at 8:06) have red bulbs in them! ("I found a red light bulb & I just had to try this!") I do believe this video has some SafeTech firsts in it: dropping your keys, talking during a normally silent (voice-wise at least) walk test video, & sounding the system off normally before _then_ putting it in walk test. 6:58 Huh, now _there's_ a combo you don't see every day! Wonder how that came to be... 9:16 Door holders huh? Kinda unusual for such an old system (unless they were added when the 4007ES was). Are they de-energized during walk tests or only during non-walk test alarms? (since I can't imagine how long it would take to then have to go & re-open all of the doors held open by them, though you _do_ only go & enable the panel's "door holder disable" function _after_ you finish the walk test) 13:29 That MA-12/24 on a _very_ rare RP24-series strobe plate is _quite_ neat! (probably doesn't flash at the required 1FPS/60FPM thanks to both the visual & audible signals likely being on one circuit though) 17:46 Is there a reason some Simplex systems do that: sound the signals after walk test is turned off? I don't really see a reason for that. 20:58 As proprietary as the ES-series is, I'm at least glad that the 4007ES (for one at least) silences the signals _immediately_ upon pressing "Alarm Silence", since some panels seem to take a _ridiculous_ amount of time to do so (still takes forever to reset afterwards though).

  • @safetech

    @safetech

    Ай бұрын

    Walk-test often disables door holders & programmed control points. DH were tested separately in full alarm. Also unless you set the walk-test to silent signaling it will sound the signals briefly when you turn it off.

    My middle school has a system with all of the same devices, maybe except for the panel. The school’s last addition was added on in 1989/1990, and it still had the 2903 combos, 4251-20s, and the 2098-9636 smokes (2 wire). My best guess is that the original panel is/was a 4100 classic with a bunch of zone cards.

    Yep, the Simplex 4007ES is a popular choice for replacing older hardwired conventional Simplex panels. My therapist's office even recently had their Silent Knight IFP-100 panel recently replaced with an Autocall-branded 4007ES panel (the system is mostly conventional, with the only addressable device being the smoke detector near the panel). The System Sensor MA horn on the strobe plate is pretty unique. I don't see installs like those often; usually they just go with a regular horn/strobe on an adapter plate.

    Based on my experience of actually setting up one for a demonstration board, its a very powerful little unit with a lot of capabilities for a system that size. It can do everything from pure conventional to full addressable with addressable notification.

  • @ZakWolf

    @ZakWolf

    Ай бұрын

    @@achannelwithnopurpose1977, yep. And with IDnet address expansion to 250 devices, a Simplex 4007ES could make a decent Simplex 4010 replacement. (The 4010ES would too, but it doesn't have a touchscreen, and it would likely also be better for replacing a Simplex 4020 panel.)

  • @achannelwithnopurpose1977

    @achannelwithnopurpose1977

    Ай бұрын

    @@ZakWolf I could go either way with the touchscreen. Its cool and has many things that i prefer over button style displays but theres still plenty of things button displays do better like survivability even though Simplex still has the best touchscreen options on the market by far. As for your remark on the 4010es, the 4010es is definitely a next of kin to the 4020 especially when you look at its internal parts. Also, you can have a touchscreen on the 4010es as it is compatible with the ESTSD (ES touch screen display) like the 4100ES. The ESTSD is better than the 4007ES touchscreen in many ways in my opinion.
