Just checked and yes, you CAN hang the caddy off the front of the can too. It doesn't interfere with the step can opening. Note that, when the caddy lid is open, it isn't flush with the top of the bin (as you can see at 5:02), so just as long as that doesn't bother you from a front view.

I ordered directly from simplehuman's own website. They had select items on sale during Black Friday, but unfortunately the sale is over now
