Question before I install the camera should I pass the information to my computer so in case of a video I upload to my laptop or I can do all in the dashcam

Do I have to install the rear camera? Can I just leave it out? Also, can it just operate off the battery, not bother with the cables and just detach it and charge it with the usb when required?

So it has to stay in the cigarette lighter meaning you have to have the box open at all times?

Is that a TRRS connection for the rear camera? I'm looking to purchase this but I need an extension cable for the rear camera. The image on Amazon shows a TRS connector but here you show TRRS.

@@iiwey8108 oh, that's completely different. That's a 5-Pin cable. Does the original cable go from a 5-pin to TRS? Is there a way to find these details? I have a high roof van with an extended cab so I might need a longer cable.

Yet again, lol! Use the tool to loosen the top and the door side of the a pillar cover, when you get to the dashboard remove the dash and cap it’s marked with a sticker in this video. Insert your wire, so it runs behind your glove box and drops out of your center consul Right where your cigarette lighter plug is located in most cases, if it’s hidden inside your consul, you can actually pull the wire through your consul and up into the bin that said plug is located in, depending on the car model, you may need to drill a hole to get the wire into that bin, but then you will have only the wire to the top of your windshield, showing everything else will be put away properly, stabbing the wire, with the install tool may result in a broken wire

Wouldn’t the install job look much better if you put both of the wires together to the top of the windshield, then follow the same path, at least at a minimum to the door trim? This will be my second install of a rear facing camera want us hooked up to my iPhone stereo, it is recommended and much easier if you start from the rear of your vehicle and work your way forward with this wire! If you install this wire to the back up camera, you will have no video until you put the car in reverse! if you wish to collect constant video, for reasons like a police officer, pulling you over, and you want to collect the full data of how long he was behind you what happens behind your car all that stuff, run your red hot wire to your license plate light instead and you will have a keyed, constant power source. If you’re told to shut your car off, rock your car ignition into auxiliary, which allows all the electric components to work without the motor running, and your rear facing camera will continue to record.

rubbish camera i have this for a few months, connected to OBD port, seems to come on every time i start the engine recording light is flashing. Yesterday i needed to check something and found out its not recording (apart from sometimes) also the date is still the same from when i set it months ago !

I checked the camera before I tucked the wire

How do we keep it recording continuously?

Yes it records continuously, the default setting is that each clips lasts three minutes, do you want it to record in one clips without segmenting?

you mean some footage can't be deleted? Please check if there is a Key icon on the footage, if so, this video is locked file and can't be deleted directly, you need to unlock this, or unlock all video, then delete them again. Or you cam format SD card, in this way, all footage will be deleted. Thank you!

I recently purchased the IIWEY Dash Cam Front and Rear 1440P & 1080P (Built with GPS & WIFI) Dual dash Cam from the Amazon store (UK) thinking that the USB (cigarette lighter port) power cable plugin would reach both their connecting points with ease after concealing the cables as shown here. WARNING! Listen here folks. Make sure the power cable provided with your order will reach both connection points in your car set up, in particular if your motor car's USB (cigarette lighter port) power cable plugin is located at the rear of your centre console (not at front under the dash, older model cars). Frustrating as hell! Now I've got to order and wait yet again (did not come with SD card either) for a iiwey Dash Cam Hardwire Kit before I can get this baby up and running properly. I don't know why they just don't offer the dash cam with hard wire only, or options on longer power cables at point of sale. I guess it's all about making those extra bucks!! Quite disappointing to be honest that I've not only had to go on and buy and wait for an SD card seperately, but also now I've got to buy another part and wait even longer before I can get my brand new IIWEY Dash Cam Front and Rear 1440P & 1080Pset up properly.

Ditto. Mid delivery of all the bits necessary now. Three stages.....1. buy camera 2. find need memory card and adaptor.....buy that. 3 find out leads aren’t long enough when poked into cracks and crevices. So buy the extensions. I guess I’ll get there eventually.....

@@articulate1 I contacted the seller of the Dashcam I bought through Amazon explaining that the original lead they had sent with the Dashcam was not long enough to reach and was not fit for purpose. They kindly sent me, for FREE, the hardwire set up which had a longer lead.

@@iiwey8108 problem is I turn off my engine and take the keys out and there is still power being drawn from my cigarette lighter and powering the camera unless it has an internal battery as well?
