They always say the first step is the hardest. Today on the 29th of January I am one year and one day coffee and caffeine free.

We stuff mini beachballs in the fridge to hold everything in place. They worked well all this year, they're cheap and deflate easily for storage, and are available in really funny designs!

What a great idea

Loved the "I'm old comment. I'm 75, you're just kids. Ps. You can never have enought curtin rods to stop stuff from opening or falling.

Thanks for a great video. We found that many of your tips are on our checklist too. Before I retired, we would make long drives because we had time constraints. I remember a few years ago when we had a 15-hour drive day and the only way we survived was to stop every hour. We allow our Fitbit to tell us that "it's time to move" and then we'll find an exit or pullout and walk around the rig until we get our 250 steps. We take a potty break, refill our water bottles, and then take off for another hour. Now that I've retired, we don't drive at night and we try to keep our distance to less than 350 miles. Most importantly, we try to smell the roses along the way.

As far as rest stops go; I follow the 3 point rule for being over 60. Never be rude to a lady. Never pass up an opportunity to use the facilities. And most importantly; never trust a gas release!!! If you know what I mean....

Just FWIW, we use a bunji chord around all the cables& Safety chains as close to our hitch (travel trailer) as we can to help guard against a cable popping off and dragging the ground. They're a lot cheaper than having to replace a cable head. Take care and Stay safe!

Longest drive was 683 miles. Don't ever want to do that again but had to make it to the Albuquerque Balloon festival and had 2.5 days to go 1400 miles. All interstate and relied on rest stops and truck stops only (love the fuel card!). We always try to arrive before dark, but in few cases we couldn't, we picked an RV park with pull thru sites and wide access so we don't have issues. But always get out and look before parking. Love y'all so much and thank you for what you do!

I have learned so much from your channel. I have 3 more days until I head out on the road for my epic (first trip) year long trip. Starting from Stuart, Florida to Tampa to So. Carolina to Indiana to Michigan. Then to So. Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington. Then down the west coast to Arizona then Texas and back to Florida. I’ll be 80 in May and this has been my dream. Hubs was a career military Veteran and he passed 16 mod ago but I’m taking him with me in Spirit. Thank you for all the great tips and suggestions. My TST gives me better confidence about the tires. Using smaller plastic bins in the refrigerator and cabinets to contains and keep things from falling out instead of rods works for us.

We are wingers. Rhonda usually drives first so I can enjoy my coffee. About noon I eat lunch and we switch so she can have lunch and rest. She drives the rig as much as I do. 👏👏👍🏻❤️

I love Discount Tire. I was in Jacksonville and needed a valve replaced and a leak checked on a tire of my 3500 dually. They worked for over an hour and charged me nothing. They said just come back which would made sense if I lived in the area, but I don't. He said just go to any other Discount Tire.

Exactly! We feel the same way.

Our clothes used to fall off the rod on every trip! Then we got a tip: turn the hangers around so that the open part of the hook is facing front instead of facing the back. Worked like a charm. No matter what we go over or if we dip in something they don't fall off.

We are big babies and really try to keep our travel days under 3 hours! I know a couple of sissies. We try to plan ahead as much as possible for stops. We are the folks all of you guys fly by on the road. 60 is our maximum speed. So much more economical. Our granddaughter once noted with dismay “Grandpa all the big trucks are passing us!” She got a short lesson on fuel economy. 😉

We’re with you. 55-60 mph is where we cruise. Makes for long travel days, but added safety and fuel economy are worth it.

Hi Guys - sorry to hear about the scratch from a tree limb. We had the same thing happen while driving on a side street. We were able to have it fixed when we were in Red Bay. We do breaks on the fly like you. We just stop when we find a good place to stop. I wanted to let you know we enjoyed meeting you at Lakeland. It was a great gathering!! Everyone was so nice. We never plan rest breaks. We just take them as needed. Generally I try to stop every 2 hours so I can get up, walk around and stretch.

I really enjoy your videos and I've learned a lot. My big trip from Pa to AK and then down the west coast, then Rt 10 to FL and then north to Pa will be as soon as I retire in July. I'm glad that Stacey only suggested giving up beer and pizza. She could have gone crazy and included ice cream in that list! Best wishes for a safe and happy trip.

We finished a 2,550 mile run on Christmas Day. From Georgetown, TX to Northern Washington State in 9 days. We don’t recommend it. But getting to hug your family on Christmas? Priceless. We’re “big wingers” too. :-)

Sorry guys being a former O T R driver I had to giggle at the 1,200 mile trip . Lol . Mileage was my paycheck . I guess you could say I have lived the r v life of a different style. I enjoy your videos .

We have a 5th wheel. We fill up the day before we move and keep our trip to under 200 miles. Therefore, we don’t have to worry about fuel while towing. We do not plan rest stops.

You guys are the best. I like how you play like a team. Always important on a RV.

Abita Brewing! We lived not too far from there, love their Rootbeer Beer! So sorry to see Ruby get scuffed up. The Tammany Trace is about 30 miles and goes through some beautiful areas. A little further south is must stay place, Fontainebleau State Park and it’s right on the Trace. Mandeville and Covington also have some excellent breweries and restaurants.

Good video, we try to drive 250 miles per leg. I hate settling up in the dark. You all mentioned glass in the doors. We have had installed clear tint on the glass panes. If it were to break you don’t have glass all over. Plus it actually supports the glass making it harder to break.

At least you didn't drive the 1200 miles all at one time! Nice video. Safe travels. David

I use the Allstays app as well I just paid for the new subscription I think it was about $31- 33 for a year. I also use the app for overhead clearances with my 13.5 ft 5th wheel. We love this tool. As for the TSD card we don't use it very much anymore. The truck stops usually have the fuel price jacked up so that even with the discount it's the same or less at one of the regular fuel stations paying regular price. After we disconnect from the 5th wheel I just fill up in the afternoon. I know not always an option with a motor home.

I found out recently a lot of larger U-Hauls locations have propane which was nice to know in case of an emergency.

Great video! I agree 100% with arriving before dark. Not only are the headlights not great on these coaches but it’s difficult to see obstacles when you’re pulling into your RV site for the night. Great job! Love your channel and you!! 😊👏👏

Many items on your checklist are on ours, too. I put the bars vertically in the cabinets, even if I need two. Thanks for another great video.

We use Tot Loc magnetic lock on our pantry door. It works great, no problems. They are available at home centers marketed for locking out children from cabinets while allowing convenient operation with the magnet. Once parked you can lock out the catch and use the door without the magnet. Safe travels.

Excellent idea! And only “turning them on” on travel days is perfect! I’ve put these on many cabinets over the years (be sure to locate them similarly on each cabinet so you don’t forget where the magnet goes to unlock them!)

We never know where we will stop without Phaeton, but ‘hope’ to get to a location we’ve been to before. I love to drive, so on our current trip to Arizona from southwestern Canada I had one stint of driving was 13 1/2 hours, which was leaving in the dark, and arriving in the dark, often using Casinos for a sleep/go! We are part timers, so owe don’t have a fuel discount card, but like Stacy, my wife uses ‘GasBuddy’ keeping an eye on diesel prices, and have found California tone the worst pricing, so we do try and keep our stay in their state to a minimum! Our coach came with a TPMS system, albeit unsure of the brand and does a fine job. We where in a hurry when leaving, as snow was forecasted so we never could find the receiver for it’s tire sensors, so we’ve not used it this trip. Will have to rectify that soon, so I’ll look at getting one for both the coach & towed!

Good Luck on your run training!! I haven't been able to run since I tore my meniscus a couple of years ago. (I'm old so they say recovery is longer) You'll be running with my best of thoughts and wishes joining you!!!

We wing the rest stops. Also considering the latch cabinet door, we have a drawer that had a similar issue. We installed 2 latches on one drawer and it’s been working great. We like to stop by 3 pm, if a rest area or Walmart stay. If harvest host drive will drive a little later because of the reservations. Agree, stop before dark.

Lol, the wife and I stayed at pour brothers harvest host and then stopped for lunch at that same rest stop off the 10 in Louisiana

Phil. If you hang your cloths backwards ,they don't come off the rod. Run the open tips of the hangers down, behind , up and onto the rod. With the open part of the hanger hook to the front, they'll no longer get jarred off the rack. It work's.

Hi Phil and Stacey, I'm watching this video and I'm like boy this looks familiar, I took this same route back in April and loved the first Harvest Host you're at, I needed to stay and work the next morning and they were so nice about it. Hope you enjoyed it as well.

Living in Florida, our first travel day is usually the longest just to get out of Florida! Lol We plan our fuel stops the night before. We’re a big fan of Harvest Host on our trips.

I can do a 1200 mile trip without having to refuel, however I like to fuel up right before we stop for the night. We prefer to stay overnight a casinos but we're not drinkers. I have been RVing for over 50 years yet we still use a check list. The issue with Open Roads and Flying J with the discount is that Flying J has an exclusive discount for RVs with Good Sams.

OMG, we did the exact same thing with the tire sensor 4 weeks ago. We stopped at a pizza place overnight, and I tried to make it around curb in the parking lot, and our toad's wheel just brushed up against the curb, our TPMS, went off a few min later, and I went out to see that the sensor was at a 45 Degree angle with the last few threads broke off of the aluminum stem. Luckily I had the sensor, but like you I couldn't add any air to the tire. I lost air, but did get it to stop letting our air. The next morning we went to Discount Tire, and they replaced the stem but the TPMS was still good, and because we purchased the tires from them the cost was $0. It took two hours out of our travel day, and taught me a lesson. Just disconnect the dang toad if it gets tight. That is a lot faster than the two hours at discount.

Love the video! We plan our lunch/rest stop with RV Trip Wizard. If we're on freeways I use my iExit app to see how many miles to the next rest stop. Love this app as it will tell you in detail what is at every exit. When on back roads we wing it and have found some great stopping place to have lunch. I always note these stops in our travel journal for those return trip. Safe travels.

We like this app as well. The only draw back is that it only works on Interstates.

I use my garmin otr 1000. For on the fly I plan all my fuel stops, rest areas, and even look art up coming camp grounds.

I like Lov's but it is the lowest discount. Hearer a tip for you. When it has been raining raise one end/tilt the coach so you drain any water on top the slides before you bring them in. Otherwise there can be water on top the slide when it is in. It can run off inside the coach and if you are lucky and hit a small downgrade it can pore right down your neck. Yes I HATE arriving after dark. Did I say I HATE arriving after dark.

Tend to plan fuel stops early and look at backup and alternate options along the way. Even with Open Roads, discounts change so double check as we get close. For rest stops, outside fuel we don’t plan rest stops, just deal as we need. Flexibility makes the longer trips easier.

No plans on rest stops, check generally where they are but hit n miss depending on body 👍

LOL, LOL 10:00 looks like our bus on travel day, it's worse if we recently went to Costco. Even after 2yrs the first travel day when we change areas we are always late, something always slows us down, but no matter what I shut sown before sunset. I've been having the same issue with the jacks, but mine is the same one, it comes up but is slow to lock in 50% of the time. We don't always use the discount cards I check gas buddy for better deals on diesel plus I hate the chain truck stops, you always have to wait on some bonehead trucker camping on the fuel island. My biggest tip on moving day is "stay claim", don't stress each other, things will happen, and if you see a fellow RVer struggling go help them out.

LOL, about Phil's clothes falling down. We had it happen also. Our wardrope closet is all the way to the rear of our 40' class A. We went over a speed bump in a parking lot that apparently threw every single hanger up off the closet bar and they all fell to the floor.

Clothes falling - we found a solution that solves two problems in one. We fit a long tension rod behind the hook at the top of the clotheshangers while traveling. When we arrive, we can leave it (we can still remove clothing from the hangers), but usually we remove it and install in the bedroom to give us a super-long drying rack that's not in the way or even noticeable when not in use.

I know the feeling. We've been home for 5 months after our NW trip last Summer. We leave in 3wks for Florida from California! Getting ready is tedious.

Awesome play-by-play...well done! We're going to join the F/T RV ranks this fall with 33AA's bigger brother, a 2016 Tiffin Allegro RED 37PA that we just purchased! Sooo exciting !!!

I feel your pain on the jacks...I also have a Tiffin Allegro (gas, not diesel) and I have had intermittent issues with my jacks. The first time I figured out how to force them up by lifting the corresponding levers on the hydraulic pump. Dropped it off at the dealer and they could not duplicate the problem of course.

Yes my clothes fall off hook while traveling also and I am small and my tshirts aren't heavy- very frustrating to always hang up stuff when I arrive. I think the asphalt is esp bumpy on those times. But nothing to do than - slow down when driving. Thought I usually drive 55 to 60 mph. Enjoy your videos very much. Very good information on RV travel . I do the same- re - get rusty when I don't travel for few months. Even hooked my water line to wrong connection ( hooked to black tank flush - overflowed the toilet that time. - LOL will never do that again.

It appears Phil's hangers are pointing to the back. My clothes always fell off until someone suggested having the hanger hooks towards the front. I was skeptical but tried it. They hardly ever fall off now. Definitely worked.

Google street view is a great tip because a steep driveway has caused us a problems twice. We plan all stops in advance and worse case is we don't need to stop and just keep going. Always plan a long stop half way in the trip to walk the dogs, eat and rest. Normally it's a four hour day for the long trips. Late check out and early arrival then rest and relaxation. OH, we normally travel on weekdays when repair facilities are up and running. Nothing worse than a break down on a Sunday when everything is closed.

Lobe watching yalls videos, have really learned a lot from them and my wife and I have been talking about hitting the road for few years and these videos she started watching 5 days ago and all our tvs have been yalls channel for 5 straight days and learned more in last 5 days then thought I knew in last 5 years lol, also they have inspired us to get off the couch and in the captain chair and on the road ,wanting to do a 2 or 3 month try out run and if goes well we will go from there on what to do from there , thanks again for videos ,any tips for us starting out from scratch as far as never rv d over week we can use any tips or opinions we can get ,thanks again

We left Moab on a Tuesday morning and were back to Northeastern MD Friday evening. Would have been home sooner but wind shut us down early in KS on day two. 750 miles on last day. Over 600 on Thursday. I kinda plan rest and fuel stops then end up winging it cause my pilot changes his mind ALOT!😜😜

Phil, for your problem cabinet, is it possible to install a "child protection" latch? One that you open the door enough to slip your finger between the door and cabinet to push the nylon latch down to release and open the door the rest of the way. Another thought, I just bought a trigger operated digital tire gauge and fill from Habor Freight that I can use on my dual wheels for about $54...no guessing on the pressure...yea! It works great. It's 2 pounds off from TPMS so I just make the adjustment and I'm done. I'm not familiar with your compressor set up you may have to get a couple of couplings to hook it up. See ya, Ron, Plano, TX

16:01 I did my 1st and 2nd full marathon in 2007 and used to cycle but got odd and fat. Good luck!

Be careful to make sure the steps are fully extended. It’s a pain to repair them. We have a gasoline engine, so I use pilot or Sams for fuel. The last few years we end up either I-81 / I-40. Or 1-95 So the route is becoming familiar.

This may be us but we have found that Pilot, Flying J, Loves etc etc are way more expensive per gallon to start with so they build in the discount to take off the supposed discount. We buy our fuel off highway in towns and if you go to Arco or Maverick or Valero they tend to be up to 50 cents per gallon cheaper than on the highway.

We are also big wingers. We like to just go in the moment. Stacy try running in intervals. I knocked 26 minutes off my half time by running intervals. Also, consider running some ultra events. They are so great! Start with ones that are on a loop. A great one is Arrowhead in Johnston City, IL in October. In November there is Tunnel Hill events. 50 miler, 100 miler and marathon. It’s fantastic. People from all around the world come. It’s in Vienna, IL.

We have the pantry door opening and the sliding rack coming out and cans/jars hitting the tile (actually virgin voyage, this happened and broke a floor tile!) We've used a couple of fixes (and replaced original clasp twice.) Never thought of using the extention rod so that's now in my Amazon basket! Thanks!!
