Learn how to make a table saw sled aka crosscut sled with a stop block.
Thanks to Woodcraft for sponsoring this video!
Get the PLANS HERE: fixthisbuildthat.com/tablesaw...
Making a table saw sled or crosscut sled lets you get safe, repeatable, accurate cuts with your saw. My old table saw sled was worn out and didn’t have a integrated stop block. So I made a new one with a sliding stop block and some nice little features. I’ll also show you how to square your cross cut sled using a simplified version of the 5 cut method that doesn’t require all the math. #woodworking #tablesawsled #crosscutsled

I was planning to make a new table saw sled, and decided to look for a video while eating lunch, not expecting to learn anything. I have to say I’m impressed with this video! The method to square the back fence is one I have not seen before, and I’m sure it will lead to a squarer sled than I would have had. I also like the super glue method to hold the rails in place until the sled can be flipped and the rails properly attached. Thank you for making this!

Just a tip that came to me while building this sled... In order to assist with "squaring" the back fence with the blade, place a couple LARGE flat washers (spread out as far as possible) in the initial saw cut and butt your square up against these flat washers that are sticking up out of the initial saw cut. Then squaring the back fence is actually pretty precise.

Just completed new sled. My old one was not quite square. I did my initial placing of the back fence using my igaging engineer's square and then did the five cuts to check for square and found that I was only .009" out and dividing by four comes out to .00225" deviation from square. I was amazed to see the measurement and redid the cuts with essentially the same result. After doing just a tiny bit of basic math, I quickly decided to put in the rest of the screws and call it done. Thank you for the great video. Please, keep'em coming.
