Thank you so much for the video, is really interesting how different artist work with really different setups of the same software, but I have to say you're maybe the most minimalist of the ones I've seen. I'm curious, why using the mixer brush instead of the smudge tool? Is there any advantage?
@LightingMentor
Жыл бұрын
You're most welcome Pulpo! Yes, I think that too many people get lost in the technology and forget about light and color, so I try to keep things very very simple, especially when teaching. I do use more advanced features too, but didn't want to get to those quite yet on this channel until I had covered things that I think should be mastered first. To answer your question about the smudge vs mixer.... the smudge tool pushes pixels, but the mixes is more like a brush with blending. It's a subtle difference but I find I like the results of the Mixer brush far better. But if you can find uses for the smudge tool that's great too

Hi Carol! Great question. So the smudge tool pushes pixels, and the mixed brush blends them. They kinda do different things, similar but different. Some people use the smudge tool, but I find it does more smearing than mixing. Does that make sense?

Hi Alina! Yes, unzip the file first. If you're on Windows right click, then go to 7-Zip, then Extract here. You should be able to see the .abr file to import into Photoshop. If you're on a Mac just double click the zip file and it should extract. Hope this helps

Oh that's awesome! I didn't know Affinity could import Photoshop brushes. Amazing!
Thank you so much for the video, is really interesting how different artist work with really different setups of the same software, but I have to say you're maybe the most minimalist of the ones I've seen. I'm curious, why using the mixer brush instead of the smudge tool? Is there any advantage?
@LightingMentor
But if you can find uses for the smudge tool that's great too
Thank you so much!

Hey Jeremy! Sorry if someone already asked, but could you explain why do you use the mixed brush instead of the smudge tool for this purpose of blending? Thank you!
@LightingMentor
Жыл бұрын
Hi Carol! Great question. So the smudge tool pushes pixels, and the mixed brush blends them. They kinda do different things, similar but different. Some people use the smudge tool, but I find it does more smearing than mixing. Does that make sense?
Thank you kind sir. :D

what type of drawing tablet you use?
Are there certain settings being used in BRUSH SETTINGS tab when using chaulky brush? Besides the opacity and fill sliders up top? When using your brush, I'm not getting the same look and wondering if one of my other presets are interfering with your brush should work. It looks fine but seems off some how. Thanks!

Some fixes include turning off content blockers in your browser. Hope you can find a solution. If it still doesn't work message me again and we can find a way to get your those brushes
Sorry I'm very new to Photoshop. I downloaded the zip file but photoshop is saying it is not compatible with my version. I think it was because the file I downloaded was still a zip file and not abr? Do I need use like a zip file extractor or something to open your file before I try to import it into photoshop? Any advice? because I would love to use your brushes. Thanks!

Hi Alina! Yes, unzip the file first. If you're on Windows right click, then go to 7-Zip, then Extract here. You should be able to see the .abr file to import into Photoshop. If you're on a Mac just double click the zip file and it should extract. Hope this helps

Actually this color wheel should be there... go to the "hamburger" menu on the top right of that panel (the three lines) and clock it. You should see the choice to use the Color Wheel there. Hope this helps. Photoshop's default is the Hue Cube
