    Thank you so much for the video, is really interesting how different artist work with really different setups of the same software, but I have to say you're maybe the most minimalist of the ones I've seen. I'm curious, why using the mixer brush instead of the smudge tool? Is there any advantage?

  • @LightingMentor

    @LightingMentor

    Жыл бұрын

    You're most welcome Pulpo! Yes, I think that too many people get lost in the technology and forget about light and color, so I try to keep things very very simple, especially when teaching. I do use more advanced features too, but didn't want to get to those quite yet on this channel until I had covered things that I think should be mastered first. To answer your question about the smudge vs mixer.... the smudge tool pushes pixels, but the mixes is more like a brush with blending. It's a subtle difference but I find I like the results of the Mixer brush far better. But if you can find uses for the smudge tool that's great too

    Try using the Gouache Blender. It's one of the default brushes and requires no settings tweaking to get very similar results. Hope this helps!

    Hmm... that's strange. Sorry it took me so long to reply (been busy with film production). I wonder if there's something in Photoshop settings that is doing this. Did you get an answer for this yet? Let me know and I will try and dig deeper to help

    Yes, tools can be overwhelming for sure. I suggest starting very simple. If you have an ipad I highly recommend the Procreate app. Itshould be far less intimidating than Photoshop

    not much easier... they'll simply make your digital art possible. I've met stubborn people, but God do NOT let me bump into someone who uses a mouse for this.
