Hey David, I've created a set-up with two flight cases, some elo touchscreens and some drawers myself, so I was curious for your video. But... Did I miss something or did you not show your final set-up? Curious what the result is.

Basically, this is it. Then, depending on the show, I drag out a laptop, touchscreen and some combination of M-Touch/Play/MIDI controllers via ShowCockpit. But this is the "brains" of the operation (and all of the cables)

@@LearnStageLighting Ah I see! It was really just about the 'brains'. I am using an M-Touch and Behringer X-Touch with the old MPC/Tools myself. It's an ever lasting puzzle to optimize the set-up further. I would show you a picture, but I don't believe one can do that here. I have honestly been looking into other consoles as well, but what I particularly like about Onyx is because of the Midi support and the macro's, you can basically set-up your console any way you like with moderate costs. No fancy processing units necessary. And since Elation/Obsidian started teaming up with some of the bigger visualization and mediaserver 'players' in the market, I only believe the product becomes more and more interesting. BTW awesome that you replied so quickly.

I don't know if you're familiar with this interview from 2011 with AJ Pen (Lighting director Linkin Park, at least back then - Link below). He totally inspired my way of thinking about these consoles. He basically points out: Why buy super expensive hardware, if the home recording market has spawned so many (inexpensive) good devices that are good at playback. Rather pay for good software and set it up any way you like. It's probably much more intuitive too! Interesting / inspiring watch! kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZV-08OMgpyyfrA.html @8:53

Bingo. There are other great consoles out there, but I really think Onyx is the best mix of everything I need + low cost.
