Angela, Thanks for posting the color strings. Brilliant idea! As with most beginner's paintings, when painting 3-D objects and they are mixing their own colors, they often don't get the shading and highlights quite right. And they can't see that, or even if they do, they don't know how to fix it. And it's often just a minute nuance that can add depth or make the painting pop.

Thank you! Yes seeing all the different colors that *should* be being used can really help. A lot of beginners go straight for the light colors or get stuck doing mid tones everywhere and miss the full range of values they should be using. 😀
Love the intro!!

Angela. I am pretty new to painting. I have been following yr tutorials for more than a year and a half now. This has been a wonderful and very helpful tutorial. Really showed me how to create depth and perspective with water using values and size. I enjoyed it so much. And I like that you explain so clearly without unnecessary chatter and digressing off, with Mark speaking only when necessary. Really nice and peaceful. haha. 😅. If you know what I mean. 😂 Thank you Angela and Mark. Many thanks and blessings from Singapore.

I love the practice activities that you went over. It’s like the lightbulb turned on especially the perspective part. The only part I didn’t get was the color gradient with the perspective as I thought the color would get less saturated with distance rather than darker. Is this because of it being water? Loved this video. I love that you and Mark can joke and appear so happy while working together. Restores my faith in marriage!
@thankfulart
Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yeah it depends on the light. When the sun is overhead the water is often lighter at the horizon somewhat but with deep ocean it is generally darker. And since the water is more shallow approaching the shore/beach the water lightens there.
@thankfulart
Жыл бұрын
It is not a hard rule. Depends a lot on the time of day and reflected light. This was past sunset or before sunrise so the deep water was darker. :)

@@thankfulart so it is $10 for patron’s where I would get traceable and critique/ suggestions. So what’s $100.00 a computerized program where you suggests the ‘How to make changes’? detail explanations. Just wondering, could you please explain. Also is there a web page that I can learn more and be a member by paying a $5.00 fee for traceable and follow you on KZread What is the difference of being a $10.00 member to learn from you, please advise.
