You're right. They opened with this in Cork, Ireland in 1983 and the foundations shook.

Perhaps in the US, but in Europe they were B I G. In the 80's they were one of the big bands you simply had to see. Been to quite a few of their concerts.

Oh the 80’s by far the best era of music

Waterfront- truly one of the most emotional songs of my life. It is an all time favorite that I am so grateful to have on my playlist for 38 years now and counting.

Some time it's simply impossible to turn the volume up loud enough, and this is one them.

Robert Ingham 60’s and 70’s are Young when you consider the choice of music we had. This has to be up there for me.

This performance is so good you could be forgiven for thinking it was a CD! Truly impressive!!

I saw them do this in Cardiff in our old national stadium I swear when 70,000 people jumped at the same time the roof shook,it was unbeleivable

Possibly the most under rated band of the 80s and 90s!

This song makes me feel good to be alive. Loved and addicted to this song since I first heard it on the radio at work in the 80s when it first came out. A masterpiece.

This band helped me through some tough times in the 80's...and now when i catch up with them its all smiles and sweet memories..thank you

Real music, real musicians, fantastic crowds who appreciated great music. I grew up in the eighties with the pleasure of endless great music from Bands that have stood the test of time to this day. Bill Murray please help me. 🙏

These guys are LEGENDS! Few bands can make me feel like I'm floating above the concert hall (I quite drugs decades ago) The Minds music is just SO good and extremely powerful. I think Charlies and Jamie West Oram of The Fixx are the 2 BEST 'Texturalist type guitar players ever! Mel is a monster drummer!

the atmospheres of this song are amazing.

Saw these guys in the 80's, the gig kicked off with this track. Blew me away, the power in Wembley Arena, also had the honor of meeting the band when they stayed in the hotel I worked at and they gave me a signed LP! Top guys.

First saw Simple Minds in Dusseldorf in 85 and 15 times since. Had tickets for their 2020 concerts in Birmingham and Nottingham now postponed until 2021. Every time I hear this with the thumping opening bass and then Charlies guitar whining I'm transported to another level. Greatest ever rock anthem for me.

I was 21 when i discovered them, now i'm 58 and it's still the kick!!! Timeless band with a remarkable signature sound that's never boring.

I wish I can make it to Edinburgh in Aug ( I live in Vietnam) after all this Covid shit is gone. A bucket list of +10 years to tick off. My youth idols, my idols at the age of 54 ❤️

Been a fan of the Simple Minds all my Life. Waterfront is so powerfull, every time a listen to that song I get teared up and it's giving me energy. Great musicians, Mel Gaynor slamming those drums, Charlie letting his guitar sing and Jim with his aura. ❤

Kia ora from AOTEAROA, New Zealand - I remember Simple Minds performing here in NZ at a Concert called "Sweetwaters" back in the 80s and listening to WATERFRONT then...Powerful, Mesmerising.....Amazing Song and SM performance...as a young man of 18ish.. jamming out to this Song, Simple Minds....fast forward to 2020...and COVID is on our "doorsteps" I now reflect that WATERFRONT was a song about struggle, people, families, lives AND it is also a Song about Hope, Faith....and UNITY to get thru the struggles and challenges LIFE..."Get in get out of the Rain...!!!" so many great bands have come from the uk, simple minds is one of them, brilliant,

my favorite song by simple minds. i saw them live at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles it was my favorite concert I ever went to and I been to the very best of the best, Rush. the stage presence of Jim Kerr back then was quite interesting to me. I couldn't not look. They opened the concert with this song. it's always been my favorite.

One word should be enough: FANTASTIC !!!!

Was listening to Fanfare from The Skids and definitely one of the most underatted bands. Sparkle in the rain a classic album and also Steeltown from Big country

I have to admit that back in the early '80s I was into ridiculous pop. I've just spent an hour and a half mining through KZread for bands that I didn't pay much attention to at the time. Holy Fuck, I've been in tears a good part of the time realizing that all these songs pretty much make up the soundtrack of my youth. Converted....permanently!!

A superb piece of work. Can't be bettered.

Jim Kerr hasn't lost a step. His voice is as killer ever. Great band of my youth...

Immensely talented - never could classify their musical genre, they are so unique.

Burchill's harmonics are just mind-blowing, the astringent piano breathtakingly rings through and you can cut the delirious atmosphere with a knife... if EVER there was a gig I wish I'd been at...!

what a brill performance bass and drums sound epic, one of the best... these can still pull it off !!!!

Saw them in Manchester last night, they opened with this, an amazing concert.

This time last year Easter 2022,,,, I saw this fabulous fantastic band in Cardiff that year flew by so fast ❤❤❤❤❤
