Simple Minds - The American live French TV 1981.wmv
No 2 of 3 songs from this TV appearence. GREAT! Fantastic! At this time Simple Minds was the best and coolest band in history. After the album Sparkle in the Rain they transformed from Simple Minds to Jim Kerr & Co. and turned into a booooooooooring standard rock band. Early Minds can never be compared to what they become after 1984.

THE BEST SIMPLE MINDS ERA. PURE SIMPLE MINDS!!
The way Jim Kerr danced int he early days was SO magnifique, just stunning
That Bass line though!!!
There isn't a band out there today who could have touched them.
Simply brilliant at this point the brilliant simple minds
Dat BASS LINE!!!!!
Those are the Poets of the 80s’ 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Fantastic. And watching this reaffirms the amazing upgrade with Gaynor coming on board shortly afterwards
Wish I could go back in time, I miss those days. Least we can reminisce with You Tube. Thanks for the upload.👍👍👍
Thanks Robert for this invaluable upload. Premonition and Theme for great cities are still my favorite tunes
This illustrates PERFECTLY what I love about live music. A band has a great song, but played live it’s elevated to a whole new level. This song starts off with such head turning energy I’m instantly drawn in. But then that was so many bands at that time. And I completely agree with the person posted this video. That this was when Simple Minds were a force in music. As opposed to the Jim Kerr show they became. They lost their driven to win harder edge that they started with. Which was true of many to me. Such as Echo & The Bunnymen, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Cure … they all got happy. And it sucked for their music. Didn’t keep me from going to see them live, but their early music as well as shows were the sh&t!
If you were lucky enough to see the simp!e minds during 79/80/ in the large club scene they were untouchable,,blew away all comers !!
This is fantastic
Awesome track !
I agree they completely blanded out .... being big in the U.S. was more important than keeping their creative output they started out with....
Simply... The best!
Driven by the great bass work of Forbes..
I want a time machine
I can’t tell you all enough. There was nothing quite like them. And they were from my home country.
Double wow.
