Agreed. He has some of the most timeless (like in SSIS) melancholic melodies that were ever created.

In a different league. Musically and poetically it's by far their greatest song. The NGD album version is over-produced imo, and live it can be clunky. This is perfection.

Drummer is a show pony nowhere near as good as Mel Gaynor.

I'm so grateful Jim Kerr's vocals are still great! Thank you so much.

When my brother arrived home with this album in 1982 we stayed listening to it for hours, every time I hear it I remember that moment and of him who is no longer here.

Charles Burchill is to Jim Kerr what Keith Richard is to Mick Jagger ,,a genius band guitarist, always dancing in and out with hooks and riffs that create the Simple Minds identity,, fantastic player.

One of the greatest pop songs ever written, just magical. I don't think Simple Minds ever really got the recognition they deserve - the new romantic synthpop/pop genre was just flooded with great bands at that time. God knows that's not a problem these days... I'm just working on a beautiful mash-up remix of this song and a track by Depeche Mode, it'll be awesome. 🥰

I've been listening to them for 35 years and it's always a great emotion!

My husband and I have been fans since the beginning of simple minds, I was lucky enough to meet Jim many years ago when he was at his recording studio in Scotland and someone had crashed his car and he needed a car ASAP and that's when I hired him a car for the weekend, he is a gem of a gut soooo down to earth and took time out to speak to me on collecting and returning the car. We can't wait to see him and the band at the Ovo in Glasgow in March.

If someone said to me ‘why do you love simple minds so much?’, I’d just show them this, brilliant 👏🏻👏🏻

Well said! So many of their greatest tracks (especially the earlier ones) are entirely dependent on his understated brilliance. And when he was performing with Mick MacNeil they were so fluid and in synch that you could barely pick out who was playing what part!

I saw them in 1984 in Brussels. Jim was a real grasshopper, an incredible energy emanated from this group on stage. The band before was China Crisis

Simple Minds were not my favourite band in high school, but a few years ago, I rediscovered them, still active, still lively, still innovative, and I've decided that they must be one of the most righteous and transcendent bands of the 80s, so now I follow them with renewed enthusiasm. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Beautiful building in Paisley a few feet from the band are the graves of Scottish kings n queens , they must be rocking under their stone slabs.

My absolutely favourite Simple Minds song. I used to play this over and over again. Reminds me of so many great times, and hearing this song at night with the volume up, especially on long car journeys was the best feeling ever. I still get the same feeling now! I have seen them many times over the years, from the small venues to the stadium yours. Epic band, never disappointed.❤

Visiting the Abbey, seeing the many Stone Mason marks, as well as so much more, are fascinating. Jim, what was the reason why you went there, for this video? Thank you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
