After so many years still goosebumps. The most beautiful song of my life. Melody that comes from the future. Simple Minds was my first band that I saw live, in Italy. I'm Italian from Naples. Simple Minds, Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Stone Roses, The Charlatans, Shed Seven, Supergrass .... I want to go back in time ....

Mel and Derek laying down a demonic rhythm, Charlie floating in the ether, Jim belting from the heart, and Dexbam polishing it all to highest gloss. Thank you all for this dream moment for posterity.

I was there! It was a 'home game' for the Minds as the British forces still had their barracks in Westphalia. There were also tears of homesickness in the audience, heartbreaking. We were all Scots that night! It was indeed a great 'New Gold Dream', but also a 'normal' New Gold Dream. IMO, no version will ever come close to the slow one on 'In The City Of Light' - good night.

Great times, great song, great performance - wonderful band.

the 80s and early 90'S were the time to see Simple Minds......amazing in their day!

It's weird man... I've just found this and I'm nearly 49! I know that synth sample so well from going raving in the early nineties. Amazing tune, goosebumps.

I believe that is correct. Queen and US were fond of doing something clever a insert lyrics of another tune. Like Bono singing part of Lou Reeds "Satellite Of love" when U2 played "Bad" at Live Aid on July 13th 1985. Freddie would quote even older rockabilly tunes.
