I met your grandfather Tommy burns and Tom boyd before he and Tommy burns passed and all knew my grandfather somehow, your grandfather one the funniest chaps I’ve ever met, still have a signed Celtic view from all them in my loft kept away!! They came up to the lounge got me an iron bru all all 3 got my grandfathers a pint kept 2 in the pumps, was best day my life other than tommy burns nearly breaking my knuckles with his overly firm handshake, actually my grandfathers anniversary to and that’s why I’m on her listening to this song he showed me of you pops days before he himself passed ✝️🫶🏻☘️ God bless! I'm a Rangers fan and still thought this was amazing. Jinky was something else.

As an Englishman I'll quite happily say that it's the celts that produce the footballing geniuses, be it Jimmy Johnston, George Best, Billy Bremner, Dennis Law, Shankly, Busby, Doherty, Ferguson - I'm showing my age - the list could go on and on. Like Best, Johnson was a joy to watch as well as being a true gent.

There are not enough superlatives to describe what Jinky meant to us. What an appetite for life. Thanks Jimmy for the memories.

As a Rangers fan,I'd like to say it's a pity there are no more players like him today.

absolutely brilliant, Jinky will always be revered and remembered by the Celtic faithful, i've grown up hearing stories about Jinky, how he could run teams ragged, he may have been small in height but he was a giant with courage and seemless talent, sadly missed by thousands, R.I.P Jinky

I don't cry easily, but listening to this moved me emotionally so much .. looking back down memory lane .. I was honoured to see Jimmy play every week all through the late 60's early 70's .. it seemed as if the ball was attached to his boot by a piece of invisable elastic .. he'd go round a man .. then go back and beat him twice just for the hell of it beacause he could .. what a legend .. a lovely man .. god rest you Jinky .. gone but NEVER forgotten ! !

This was probably my second game and I can still picture standing in Celtic Park where Celtic and United were all mixed in together enjoying watching the end of a genius's career, along with another star in Bobby Lennox. Shame the younger generation just don't get the bond that these 2 clubs used to share!!

i might get some shit for this but i am a bass player in a local band here in NZ.i am a englishman who is a arsenal fan and have seen arsenal loads of times and have seen celtic a couple of times at highbury,seen jim kerr at the games at highbury,now my dad is from dublin so we chose to learn dirty old town to do in the band,so also a big u2 fan and pogues fan so for me great song to learn,i have a few tears down my cheek dad would of known jimmy but what a guy he seems to be,awesome

i first saw Jimmy playing for the reserves against rangers at parkhead. i'me not sure if he done a summersault, or a rolly polly, but, he done it with the ball at his feet and carried on running wi it. couldnt believe what i had just witnessed. entertainer you better believe it..
