Simple Man - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Музыка

Mama told me when I was young
"Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say
And if you do this it will help you some sunny day"
"Oh, take your time, don't live too fast
Troubles will come and they will pass
You'll find a woman and you'll find love
And don't forget, son, there is someone up above"
"And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"
"Forget your lust for the rich man's gold
All that you need is in your soul
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied"
"And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"
Oh yes, I will
"Boy, don't you worry, you'll find yourself
Follow your heart and nothing else
And you can do this, oh baby, if you try
All that I want for you, my son, is to be satisfied"
"And be a simple kind of man
Oh, be something you love and understand
Baby be a simple kind of man
Oh, won't you do this for me, son, if you can"
Baby, be a simple, really simple man
Oh, be something you love and understand...

My husband had 3 songs written down in his wallet when he suddenly passed away to be played at his funeral, this was 1 of them. Our daughter was only 3 years old at the time and now she is 21 and expecting our first Grandchild "a boy"💙

I cant listen to this song without tearing up/ I lost my 11 year old boy in 2018. I wanted to teach him all I could about being a man. I used to think of this song when I thought of what I wanted him to become. Its all gone now. Miss you Mikey. Best son in the world. Daddy is gonna be with you someday bud.

I used to play this song with my son who was born 11/23/83. He passed 3/25/2018. This brings tears EVERY time I hear it. I saw Lynryd Skynryd four times. Twice before their 1977 crash. Their music will be around long after I die. To be played at my funeral too.

Be a simple man everyone. You come to realize growing up that life is flying by. Im only 27 and it hard to be happy in this wicked world so enjoy the small and simple things. Its easy to get caught up in life and not enjoy it im realizing that now. You don't have to have alot of money to enjoy the small things like waking up another day in this hell hole. Try to enjoy life the best you can. One day you will be taken from this evil place and be somewhere better.

This is one of the most underrated songs of all time.I´m now 70 years old, stay in Germany and i love the USA, and the music, who come from there, so I`m also a fan from Quicksilver and many other US Bands from the seventies. As a people you works for years in a travel agency I stay often together with my wife Angie ins the USA. We love this country. And as germans we say, thank you for putting away the nazis and thank you for the music.

I have always loved this song. It never gets old. I grew up in the 70's so I was blessed to see them in concert with the original members. There will never be another Skynyrd, they were one of a kind. They left us with so much amazing music to enjoy and cherish forever. I will always love Freebird and many songs from Skynyrd.

Where and what year did you see them? We saw them in September, 1974, in Charlotte, NC . I got married in December, 1977, but the 2 most vivid memories were October 20th, 1977, when the plane went down. And August 17, 1977 when I heard the breakthrough on news when Elvis died.

Ah buddy, laying here in the bath as I do listening to the best songs in the world, reading your comment of course has brought a tear to my eyes. Some day you will be with him yes, but remember he is with you everyday in everything you do. His soul lives on with you and helps you get through everyday. Keep your chin up my friend and always remember the good times.

If your like me, a gen x 54 yr old, then I want you to know that as a kid I never really paid much attention to this song. But now it hits me like a good sermon from a preacher who tells you what you need to hear and not want you want to hear. It moves me. It scrambles hope in with acceptance of past mistakes. It gives me peace. If you get a chance listen to "Between a Laugh and a Tear" by John Cougar Mellencamp off his Rain on the Scarecrow album. You won't be disappointed i promise you. May God bless you.

My mom passed away from cancer years ago. I had an iPod she would always like to borrow. While she was home on hospice & while she still could, she managed to load this song on It was months before I even wanted to listen to music. When I finally did there was a folder labeled mom, this one song.. still cry every time I hear it as a 45 year old man. Gave her the grandchildren she always wanted a few years later. She obviously never got to meet them but she's with them. My daughter is named after her. She has her middle name for her first name & first for her middle.

In 1969 while still in high school I saw the movie Easy Rider. I already had a 51 Panhead. While the other guys were playing football and running track. After school I got a job at a motorcycle shop working for parts acknowledge I rode my own Chopper to the Mardi Gras. I've lived by that movie and the music in it all my life. I'm 71 years old and I still ride a chopper and always will I think I am the simple man
