Simple knife making with an old saw blade

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Looking for a new knife? Something fun, different, and completely unique? That's what we thought, so we went ahead and made one. Check out how easy it is to make one. Get your saw blade from the hardware store and follow these tutorial.
I try to show all steps involved in this video to show you how to make a knife from an old saw blade. This is a great way to repurpose some old junk and make a useful tool for your household. You just need the blade of the saw, some sandpaper, grinding wheel and angle grinder to sharpen it.
The large finger hole on the blade provides a secure grip for wonderful management whereas filleting fish, chopping vegetables and deboning meat.
Note: This is the first knife I made and I didn't heat treat it because it didn't occur to me that it should.
Handmade knife from old file, simple knife making with basic tools.

I was a little worried about installing the blade after reading a couple of reviews. But it was amazingly easy. Took about 1 minute. Works great kzread.infoUgkxjpBI8OOeUXib_iT7UomCrQ-uauwZJ62c . Cuts easily and is perfect for pocket cuts I needed to make for replacing some old deck boards.

Nice video. Like one of the comments said I too thought saw blades were heat treated. I thought leaf springs, spikes, wrenches and such only needed that. I would love to try this. I can handle cutting out the blade but putting on a handle would give me trouble.

You’re having a hard time drilling because saw blades are hardened steel. If you heat the spot you want to drill with a torch to red hot and let it cool you can drill it easy. Dont get the blade edge red hot you will ruin the hardness.
