Simple Ken Podcast | EP 7 - Early Childhood Feat. Naveen Richard

Комедия

Simple Ken is hosted by Kenny Sebastian, A stand up comedian known for his observational humour and quirky stage presence.
A simple podcast about tackling the weekly conflicts of a comedian.
A strictly "no advice" podcast.
With the all India 21 day lockdown (Which I eerily predicted before hand), This episode has been shot in my own living room! It also is super handy to have a flatmate who is also an amazing comedian and writer! Talking to Naveen Richard is an everyday affair (we have been staying together for almost 3 years now), We covered topics ranging from childhood, films to even the ever looming existential crisis.
You can Tweet/KZread/ Instagram your questions/topics/queries discuss for the next week episode using the hashtag #simpleken.
Simple Ken is available on all major podcasts platforms for free including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Gaana and Soundcloud.

Thank you for the lovely comments about the setting of the house. The reason we can record here now is cause of the lockdown making it very quiet. During regular days, every 10 seconds a loud auto or motorbike goes by. Making it impossible to record anything. Ask your questions for the next episode here!

#simpleken Hey Kenny...Great long recording. Please watch The Man from Earth ( It's the best movie I've ever watched). How do you know Megha Girish? I saw you in her music video with glasses and a goatee...(kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJth1ryGisjeiM4.html) You did color correction for that video. ( You said you were color blind...I know it's a lame joke but worth a shot) I want to mess with her about this (She's my cousin). Tell me some interesting information that she would freak out about. It would be crazy if you mention this in your next long recording ;)

There is so much about Naveen's personality that i relate to.. his distaste for massy bollywood movies, his attention to detail and passion in his work, his lack of interest in clubbing 😂 kinda makes me wish i could be talking to them face to face.. great video Kenny, love you both ❤

@@KennySebastian next time Naveen and you discuss Bollywood movies, just make sure that you pay extra attention to whether one actor is actually reacting to what another one is saying in a conversational scene or if he is just using the other's lines as his own cue. I find this to be the biggest problem in hindi cinema and I feel Naveen would agree with me since he shares my cynicism for Bollywood. Great video nonetheless..

Hi Kenny, My boyfriend and I watch your long recording on KZread every day with our evening cup of chai. Sometimes we decide to watch the news, and then within 3mins, switch to your recording. I don’t have a question per se but just wanted to remind you and most good comedians like Naveen, Kanan etc. that you are doing a very important job. In the shit hole of a world that we’ve created, people can turn to you for a laugh. And in those moments of laughing, literally forget about all the bad things in life. So thank you! As long as you’re not saying / doing anything illegal, please ignore haters. And keep SimpleKen going! Lots of love! P.S. it’s the perfect name for this show because it shows a simpler side of you.

I am not Kenny. But your comment makes me happy. :D This is for the first time I am reading comments on KZread (call me jobless) and finding it very interesting. I should start reading comments instead of watching the videos. Might save me some time. However, I must say that this is very disappointing. Where is the "online hate" that I heard of? Don't be so nice guys. And Urmila lucky you, I suspect my boyfriend will never watch this show with me. Since the time I have started to follow Kenny's work my boyfriend doesn’t seem to be interested in him. And he is the same guy who was proposing to go Kenny's show when Kenny was somewhere around Vancouver. Back then I had minimal idea who Kenny Sebastian was. Tables turning, the world is burning.

Hey Kenny, I love each and every episode of these long recordings of you talking but simply the effort that you are putting in to make sure that every week, there is an episode for your audience to watch even in such harsh conditions is so commendable. I truly respect the amount of dedication that you have towards whatever you do, be it standup or such recordings or whatever other things you have going on. My question for #SimpleKen is that when do you actually stop believing in or waiting on things thinking that someday sometime it's all going to work out for good and that the thing that you have been wanting to do for so long in your life, whatever it is, is actually going to turn into a reality because I am not in a position right now or have been in such a position to selfishly only think about me and what I want to achieve because of the effect that it will have on my family and I don't even know if when I do actually go after what I really want, that it's going to be perceived positively and when I think of that, in hindsight, there have been so many chances that I have forcibly or willingly let go and now I'm just trying to pursue what I want and I really want it that bad but the circumstances haven't changed at all and it feels so gut-wrenchingly bad about still having to let go off of opportunities but then again it's your family and you don't give up on them too..so like do you stop believing and give up or do you still believe, get hurt but still hope that someday it'll be good and alright and you will be doing what you wanted to do..

Your long recordings of you talking are the only thing that is keeping me sane these days and even otherwise. Thank you Kenny. Please don't stop na. I have a couple of questions; hope you see them: 1. I can't afford therapy, are there any other feasible options? 2. I don't have any friends friends. I have a couple of friends, but I can live without them. I am mostly like a loner. Is it normal to not have friends? Can a person lead a normal life without having at least one (real) friend? P.S: I'm jealous of the bond you have with abish, kanan, naveen etc. 3. I think I am too selfish to love anyone unconditionally. So, does that mean I am not fit for relationships or marriage? 4. When you realise that you are the toxic friend or partner, what's the next step you should take? 5. I tend to think too much of doing the right thing everytime but it comes to actually doing it, I'll be #$%^ this... and always fall back to my old patterns... how do I break that cycle? Enough for today!😁 #simpleken

Hey Kenny and Naveen, First of all , I love you both together. You both just naturally click, it's so easy for someone watching to connect with the stuffs you guys talk. I have observed Kenny laughing genuinely when ever Naveen cracks some jokes..I Just love it. Its so cool because it's so relatable - two friends hanging out together. Secondly, this video is awesome mainly because you guys answered the questions without sugarcoating it. Right from experiences of middle class people, spoiled rich brats, how some faces are slappable, unrealistic hero centric bollywood flims to how people like me watch stuffs and never put out a word whether the stuff is good/bad.( Relatable) Everything in this video was fucking honest and hell-bent. That's is why I am posting this comment ( my first one amongst all your videos I watched gazillion times whenever I am feeling lost or happy or sad or depressed or whatsoever....) You guys rock...keep doing this Kenny...it's natural and so is you. P.S. I am a big fan of Naveen. He is articulated, funny and natural. I loved the part when he said wasting a part of your life plays a great role in shaping it.

My question for next podcast is 1. Have you ever been through a phase called Psychological feeling of stagnation where you felt like you are not progressing in life especially in career or whatsoever. I know it's subjective to answer. If you have been through it, I just wanted to know how you overcome it ?? 2. Top five all time favourite movies.

By far the best I've seen on youtube in many days, genuinely. I am so grateful to you for pressing and raising the topic of the amount of MEHNAT that goes in "creating" and "making" (sadly not much appreciated). Even in the architecture community, we face a lot of "tum toh interior designer ho, builder ho, your uncle telling you to draw his house for free". It is important for people to know the value behind an artists work ❤️ thanks kenny.

Heyyyyyy Kenny! Here's a Starboyz fan...it's just so good and unique. Please try to make a season 2. You three were great in that show but I think I miss Robo Rakesh the most... That part when Naveen was pretending that Xavier is his cousin and not a character created by him reminded me of Skechy Behaviour's that sketch in which Kanan pretended that it's about the mental health issue when it's clearly a sketch🤣🤣🤣(maybe the situations aren't that same but somehow it's relatable) P.S.- I feel this living room version is better than the studio because of the background...so much greenery...it's looking amazing🌳...really good episode of #simpleken😊

I really loved this episode, and I was just going to play this in the background while I scroll through my phone, but you guys made me put my phone aside. I am definitely going to watch Naveen's prime special, and maybe Starboy too. Also, of all the relatable things you guys said, I think the most relatable was the one about telling yourself 'it's one of those days' and feeling better because you don't have to feel guilty for feeling a certain way. Somedays, you just won't have the energy for the pleasantries and it's okay. Believing it *will* be okay is equally important. Anyway, thanks for this, boi did i need something like this right now. :)

Hi Kenny and Naveen, loved this episode so much. I just watched Naveen's special yesterday and it was hilarious. Honestly one of the best specials i have seen on prime video. Even his role in pushpavalli was so well executed. I finished both the seasons in 2 days. Also loved ur guest appearance on the show Kenny. We watch ur standups in class sometimes. Keep going :)

I'm catching up on this since a little while now. You are the most fascinating human being to me, in terms of your craft, artistry and body of work. You genuinely inspire me to do better at what I do. This podcast might have revealed how oblivious I may have been to my own feelings on existentialism, so thank you so much. I am hoping to work my stuff out with time but you and Naveen have given me a fresh perspective. I aspire to be as amazing as you are.

Having watched almost every video that is on your channel, I always knew I liked your personality, but these "really recordings of you talking" have really helped me pinpoint and appreciate what I really like. I've come to realize, that it's how you have always looked at situations from a different perspective. For example, in 6th grade, you'd be one of the very few individuals to have realized how useless the education system is, while the rest (including me) just went on with whatever we were told to do. Even your perspective on how sad it was that in art school people could not digest "draw anything". I really find it interesting that you seem to have this presence of mind that helps to you look at situations in a different light - which I think also helps with your comedy, while you observe things around you. #SimpleKen Do you recall any incidents/interactions/learnings that made you look at things this differently? Because, our education system has conditioned us to look at things in a certain way and not really mull over the 'why' of it - how did you escape? :)
