Simple Easy Electric Fireplace
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
I wanted to add a fireplace to my bedroom and I didn’t want to spend a fortune on one at the local hardware store so I bought an electric insert from Amazon and built one myself. I used 2x6 pine for the frame and some cheap plywood for the face. I built the fireplace to be mounted to the wall. I painted it and topped it with a stained mantle. It looks great and I really enjoy the warmth it adds to my bedroom. Check it out.

Robert, I just did this project! It was fantastically easy. The only thing I just did different was prime the inside with heat-resistant paint and a hidden door to access the plug behind the mantel. If you made physical plans and specs would be bomb.
Looks like a pretty great weekend project!
Such a good job
Great Job. This is exactly what I want to to vice inserting into the wall.

Thank you.
I saw one in entry of apt. in seattle that was about 20 feet wide.
You did a very good job. Did you have to install a new receptacle from an existing outlet?

I had an open spot in the panel so extended a new 15a circuit to it. It’s on a dedicated circuit.
How does it “breathe” on top with that 2x6 covering the intake? I thought it needed 12 inches above the intake to breathe

There's three vents in the front of it, right at the top of the insert. It draws air in through the outside two and blows it out the center. The 12" clearance is a vertical clearance that I think is there to prevent hot air from combusting things above the fireplace. The instructions specifically specified a minimum 12" from the top of the insert to the mantle. But it also noted pictures and other items hung above the fireplace, too.

@@RobertAdairWorkshop thanks for explaining. I thought the top of the unit had the intake and the front 3 sections is where the heat comes out I have a very similar unit and was concerned about covering the intake.
Looks great! Is it also a heater or is it just flames?

Its a heater too! Two settings. 750W and 1500W, I think. Really nice.

Does it get too hot to cause a fire on the back (stupid question, probably) of the fire place?

@@christiantorres2423 It is well insulated. it doesn't get hot enough on the back that I can't keep my hand on it. I haven't been worried about heat.
Hello Robert, it is just outstanding craftsmanship, after watching your video I am considering on doing the same. Would you kindly provide me with measurements, thank you in advance.

Nice build. You left a lot of crucial steps out but I get the idea.

Hi! Looks great! Also looks like you added nicer plywood planks to the sides (maybe the bottom too?) to give it a nicer finish?

I think you're right. I tried to trim it out so you couldn't see the knobs of the 2x6's. I wish I'd done a bit better job with it, though. You can see waviness in the plywood where I was to agressive with the sander.
Total cost 480.00 how about the price of the fireplace itself?

I don't remember. Check Amazon.
