SIMPLE, EASY, AFFORDABLE {Harbor Freight Electric Hoist Install In My Garage}

Спорт

I'M SO HAPPY!!!! This video is for anyone who has heavy objects to lift. I installed this hoist in my garage from Harbor Freight to solve for having to lift a 200lb ePropulsion lithium battery in and out of my boat. This install was allot easier than I anticipated and didn't take long at all. In this video you will see how I created one of the strongest mounts I ever have to support the hoist and the load it will be lifting. In the end I will demo lifting my ePropulsion E-175 200lb lithium battery out of my boat. This is a simple, easy and very affordable solution that will make a word of difference. Thanks for watching.

    Great video. I love your description as you go along installs the hoist. And the way you solved your problem. The are two things I would do differently. I would have used different joist hangers, the ones that have tabs that also sit on top of the ceiling rafter. And the other thing would be to use the Simpson StrongTie screws made for use with joist hangers. Thanks for the video. It was a help. I will be installing my hoist in a barn when my turn come up next spring.

    Should have taken the top board across more than 2 trusses to share the load instead of all weight on 2 trusses, and would have used a 4x4 instead of 2x4 on top. If you did this and used bolts long enough to go through both 4x4s you wouldn't have needed the hangers either and the whole thing would have been much stronger. But if 200lbs is all you will ever lift you are ok.

    I did something similar for my 5th wheel hitch. It's ok, but I want more x & y axis movement. I have to move my truck in hopes of lining up the dangling hitch. So, I'm going to install a trolley system to not only raise but also, move the hitch for easier alignment when reinstalling the hitch. You managed to raise your battery, but how do you get it to the floor without moving your boat? A trolley system could allow you to move your battery to/from your boat. Like you, we learn as we go. Your video is good, though. Thanks!

    I Would have made the 4x4 that you used longer and rested it on top of the trusses in the attic. Then toenailed or screwed to those trusses. That would have eliminated the need for the 2x4 that you used on top and the joist hangers. Longer threaded bolts would have been needed though.

    Love your video. I've watched it 5 times and I'm a subscriber. I do have a question. How far down from the ceiling will the hoist hang? I have a low ceiling in the garage and I'm pulling things off my 2500 which is kind of high. I only need to pull large things off my 2500 a few inches and then pull the truck out. I just need to know I can install this and that it will not hang down so low that the hoist is useless... You get me? Thank you!

  • @BassBrothersFishingDMV

    Hey. Appreciate your feedback and Sub. The lowest part of the hoist (the safety shut off bar) is about 9-1/2" from the ceiling. The only thing hanging lower than that is the hook, but that can be tethered up if you need to.

    There’s a video that shows how to lengthen the cord … I’m going to have to follow it as my shop has 14’ ceilings too.

    I would have placed the 4x4 on top of the truss instead of beside it

    Yes. I can move it back and forth. Just make sure you gap the beem out to create the space you need to do so. In this install means adding the right number of washers to create the right gap.

    You could have just put the 4x4 across the top of the joist. Structurally that would be totally sufficient for any weight you would put on it.
