This was so pure mid 90's hip-hop, the bass, the horns. The dreamy semi-sepia tone of the music video. Everything is just so perfect. A great time capsule of a song and a video. I wonder if Dewayne Wiggins produced this since he's in the video 🤔. I also dig the New York sound of the song even though she's from the bay area.

The best hip hop era, hands down! The vibe, the sound, the beats, the clothes, NY movies, so much cool things... That era when u could just stay on the sidewalk, doing nothing, or walking around to some store, and u still could look cool af with all dat swagg! That sound and era that made u feel like u just drop the hottest album eva! I loved when was cold weather, cause I could look cool as Guru, Wu and all the east coast cats

I’m glad this made it up there back then.. seems pretty unpopular these days for holding down a #1 spot for awhile.. nonetheless to the queen & wu... I been a 90’s hip hop head for awhile now and only just discovered this one a few years back somehow... Wonderful sound. Always a pleasure to hear.

This song predated badu. Sugarhill soundtrack. Simple e had ties in oakland, spice 1 and dwayne wiggins of tony toni tone. The neosoul movement started with this style along with digable planets. Qtip of tribe, arrested development, guru of gangstarr and dilla and whoever was on that tip. The music is missed...
