    To aid in turning whether on the straight or a curve, start sewing at the fabric edge, stitch to the 1/4 inch line, pivot to begin sewing along the 1/4 inch edge then do the same in reverse once you get to the end where you are leaving your hole for turning. You will have an upside down L at the beginning and end which will hold the 1/4 inch down for great turning results.

    Hi, I wonder where the gray ironing pad can be purchased from? How long does the iron hold its "charge" if you have to place the base a distance away? Do you recommend to prewash the fabric as they will be laundered often? Regarding the metallic thread, i wonder if you find it is a bit rough when wiping your mouth against it? do you think the metallic thread will hold up to frequent use? It looks lovely.

    Great questions! The wool pressing mat is available here: www.shabbyfabrics.com/wool-pressing-mat-14-x-14-P67892.aspx The iron holds a charge without needing to sit on the base for about 10 minutes. We don't prewash our fabric, because we haven't found that necessary with high-quality quilting cottons like we use, but if you use other types of fabric, you might want to. The metallic thread doesn't really feel tough, and we've found it to hold up well. We also only use it on items we don't use all the time, like Christmas decor. So, that may be something you want to test. - Morgan

    Hi Beth! Do you see the long dashed lines that go from the top of the paper to the bottom? Take your first and second sheet of paper (these should be the left side of the half-circle and the center of the half-circle with the long straight edge facing up) and line them up, one on top of the other, until the two dashed lines are stacked. We use a Lightbox or a Window so we can see through the sheets and line these up properly. You'll tape those together and do the same for the last sheet of paper, attaching that to the right side of the center paper. Does that help? - Morgan

    Trying to get ahead for next Christmas and came across this great idea. However I also found the template very confusing. There are too many dashed lines - you don't know which ones to line up. Also when pieces are together they don't quite make a smooth circular shape at the top like it shows in vid.

  • @ShabbyFabrics

    @ShabbyFabrics

    5 жыл бұрын

    The dashed lines are used for placement of each piece when putting them together, but you'll use the lines from the templated shape to match up so you get that smooth circular shape. I printed it out here and gave it a try and it worked well. Using the light from a window or Lightbox can help easily line those pieces up. - Morgan

    Looking at your vid again to try to figure things out. Your template has different lines than the one you provided. The fold lines are very clear, whereas in the template you have several that say"first fold line" and no others.

  • @ShabbyFabrics

    @ShabbyFabrics

    5 жыл бұрын

    The first fold line is the most important one, which is why it was marked that way. After that, you can use the lines marked "fold verification line" to ensure that your other folds line up. The template in the video is a little bit different, but the one you downloaded is still accurate. Line up the dotted lines to make the long single sheet that you see in our video. If you'll notice, the template in the video doesn't tell you what the fold lines are. Fold your fabric according to the "First Fold Line" and then match the other folds up with the "Fold Verification Line" on the rest of the template. Hope that helps. - Morgan

    Lol. I know what you mean. You'd want 1.5 yards of each color to make 12 napkins. We made these using Fat Quarters, so 1 FQ of each color makes 2 napkins. There are 4 FQ in a yard. You need 6 FQ of each color (12 FQ total) to make all 12 napkins, which equals 1.5 yards of each color (3 yards total). Hope that helps! Let mw know if that makes sense. ;) - Morgan

    I need your help. I printed the pattern cut it out, sewed as instructed and something is wrong. I used ⅛" seam. Here are my finished measurements: 11 ½" by 5 ½" .When I go to fold my napkin as instructed I cannot get the fold you show. Can you tell me your finished measurements? I want to give these to my mother-in-law for Christmas. Thank you

    Hello Sharon! I would be more than happy to help. You want to make sure that you are using a 1/8" straight stitch and a 1/4" seam allowance. If you look at the video at 11:22 you can see where she starts to fold the napkin. - Yajaira

    @@ShabbyFabrics can you tell me if the finished measurements are 11 ½ x 5 ½? Mine looks so much smaller.
