    Practice your welding, Ed. A little leading angle will flatten out your beads, which will eliminate some of your grinding, and you'll have less melt through, like on your outside corner. I'm not an expert, its just what I do for a living.

    This is a nice looking stove. One important suggestion, It looks like it will tip forward due to the front foot being set back. I would suggest adding another pice of the same 1x1 stock to form a “T” with the front foot. Have it stick out 3-4” towards the front.

    Nice job. From what I see you won't have any problems with the steel getting too hot and melting running it this way. And yes, a damper of some kind would give you heat control. The only thing I can see is it would be top heavy if you had too much weight sitting on top of it. (Try it on uneven ground with a heavy pot of water... that'll help your footprint design on any newer models). Awesome job.

    I see just 1 improvement you can make to this design and that is to add on 2 additional stabilization legs on the opposite end of the cooking platform in the and in the opposite direction for stability to prevent tipping in case a pot of water is heavy or there is a bump. this would pretty much prevent any chance of tipping over.

  • @yoyopg123

    I really like this design Ed because it orients the fuel feeding chamber and the air intake in the same direction. I want to make one as an emergency device in case things go TU so I can actually cook in my fireplace if needed. The only feature I'm thinking about adding is a shelf on the back where I can place a heat powered stove fan to blow the heat back into the room. I also appreciate the way you oriented the cooking grate because you could easily slide an extension piece in there for a taller flu if desired. Thanks for making this video brother.

    REALLY like this idea. wish i could use one. not a good idea to paint before removing rust.. it may cover the rusting but it does not remove the problem. rust has a tendency to cut through paint. need to do a rust remover then paint to protect from future rust. heat resistant paint is best here.

    Great build however....... I've built a few of these in various ways. The one ive found best at this size is to fit a simple hinged flap over the feed pipe to massively increase the draw of air. This produces a far higher temperature and much cleaner/efficient burn. Second thing is to fit an adjustable flap over the air intake pipe. With the feed flap closed you can adjust the amount of air entering which will adjust the temperature at the top. Careful not to starve the fire though.

  • @EdMakesStuff

    @EdMakesStuff

    6 жыл бұрын

    After I had finished it, I realised a little door over the fuel infeed would help it burn better and create more draw. I didn't think of a door over the air intake. I have a wood stove in my house and that has 2 adjustable vents on the bottom of the doors and when the vents are fully open the fire roars. I'm guessing it would work on the same principle as that? Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching, ED

    Can I ask why did you choose this particular design Vs feeding the wood to the fire at the base itself and use the vortex to cook rather than the fire itself, as the temperature of the fire is lower than the heat generated, which ultimately is what is needed to cook??? Thanks!

    flip the stove 90° ( over on its back). wont loose heat coming up the fuel feed chute. why not offset the air chanel the full width of your square tube to induce swirl in the riser?

    Неустойчивая конструкция, тут надо её доработать. Но вообще занятно работает. Интересно, почему в наклонную трубу огонь не выходит? Видимо тяга так работает. Думаю, можно можно сделать разборную конструкцию для удобства перевозки

    Saludos Cordiales desde Costa Rica., el diseño de la cocina estâ muy bonito, solamente que seria mejor si tuviera mâs soporte a los lados., porque en caso de poner una Olla grande y pesada encima., no se haga para los lados y sea peligro una quemadura. Saludos mis amigos desde el pais de los amigos, Costa Rica. Bendiciones.

    Does the length of the tubes matter? Also, what size tubing is that? A list of materials would be helpful. Thanks for the video, it is great!

    I made the burn chamber (upright piece) 12", but i think it would have been better if it was slightly longer, The tubing is 3" x 3" with a 2mm wall thickness on piece is 12" one piece is 10" and the other piece is 8" all them measurements are on the longest sides if that make sense. The steel for the feet is 1" box section about 8" long, & the four pieces on the top for the pot to sit on 30mm x 2mm and each of them is 3" long. Thanks for watching, ED

    I made one of these but a bit differently. Works just the same. I’m curious as to why it was painted though? After a good use or two really that paint would come off, and smell awful at that.
