    You don't need any of those! I've been binding books in my tiny flat without tools just fine. Just use heavy books or smthg instead of the boards and clamps, it works exactly the same! You really just need the glue, paper, and cardboards if you want to make hardcovers (for paperbacks, just use cardstock). If you don't want to use cloth, use cardstock or regular paper for the cover (though the thinner your paper, the higher the possibility of getting wrinkles). I usually sew the signatures together before glueing them for extra security, there are plenty of tutorials on youtube if you want to do that.

    Those are clamps (which are cheap and can be found at any hardware store) could be replaced with a heavy object. The purpose of him using the clamps is to keep the paper aligned and from being malformed so there might be other solutions to it. Hope this helped!

    Technically, that's not Perfect Binding but rather Case Binding with softer backers and no spine. Perfect binding is gluing the pages like demonstrated with the cover just glued to the spine and folded over on the edges with the edges trimmed flush on a guillotine cutter. Needless to say it was WAY cool.

    Is very simple compared to other methods, just glue without sew, I don't have the tools but a pair of heavy books, scissors, ruler and cutter make the job.

    This is as simple as you want to get. Sewing together signatures is more indepth.

    I think some nice relaxing music all along and not just in the end woulld be great! Of course, with the sound of work though

    Perhaps, but I prefer the unadorned, straightforward sounds of the process--I am here to watch the craft in practice. Of course, I could turn down the sound of this vid and then choose my own music to play while I watch it. For some superb (but totally silent) bookbinding vids check out the YT channel of BookbindersChronicle (one of my faves).

    Please don't beat yourself up about it! I am super fussy with music so I do this quite a lot when I don't like a particular choice of music on a vid. Bookbinding people tend to be really nice types so I'm sure we can all share ideas and approaches--Glad this channel continues to upload human scale and encouraging vids.

    I don't mind the quiet. But I absolutely hate watching videos that are sped up. What's the purpose of teaching us how to do something then fast forward threw it.

    Valerie Good I'm not sure if you're specifically talking about this video, but I'd just like to mention that the creator said in the description that this video isn't supposed to be a tutorial (^^;
